If you can wait there might be a Memorial Day sale at the SVS outlet. The outlet sales are usually the best deals. May is not too far off.

This looks identical to the Ultra 16 except for the smaller driver. I wonder if this is in response to the Ultra 16s not moving as well as they hoped? I mean, it's not like there are a lot of people who can handle an Ultra 16 by themselves... though I wouldn't mind trying :)
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Just picked up an SB 2000 from Kerry and got time to play around today. Most of you know I was looking for something on the musical side to blend with the ERA D-5'S.

I can tell you, this bad boy is quick and definitely not your one note thumping subwoofer. Blends in perfect with the speaks, you don't even know it's on, but it is, just doin' it's thing. Movies also sounded great with it, no bloat, no weird lower bass notes. It just hits hard when called on, and is subtle when it has to be while never drawing attention to itself.

I have it hooked up by the line levels from the pre, out to the amp. Receivers front left and right preouts go to an input on the pre. This way I can use the sub for either HT or music, and keep the receiver out of the equation for music. Best of both worlds in one system, what's not to like.

Thanks again to Kerry for hooking me up. A gentleman and a scholar he is.

Great sub. The 2000 subs are solid and with a very fast response. Great sub for the money with a real 17hz response. Going duals is amazing.

I use a single SB2K for music between my Ushers and agree with Tony that it blends and disappears into the music and when you get it dialed in takes over the LF's like a champ. I have mine hooked up thru the HT bypass of my p5 in my mancave ht rig so it can serve both music and ht as well.

    Really good value too.

Hello, I ran across a deal on a pair of CS-Ultra subs with original Amp. They want less than I can sell my pair of Velodyne ULD 15 Series II subs for. But I am not sure if it is an upgrade or not. How good were the CS-Ultras?
    Thanks

Having never heard the velodynes and only checked out pictures of them...i suspect a pair of CS ultras would absolutely be an improvement.

SVS is selling undamaged PB-13 Ultras at $1,399 on the outlet. When I spoke to Jack, he said the discount is sort of a blow out, clearing stock of the discontinued models as they move to the 4000’s. I couldn’t resist - always wanted duals in my large family room. That means my trusted 16-46+ will be going up for sale.

Since I bought my first Ultra used and picked it up unboxed, I have no experience with dealing with a crated Ultra. I’d like to know if those who have done this could tell me: should have the whole crate placed in my family room and unbox it there, or un-crate it in my garage? Coming Friday! :)

If there are stairs involved (and even if there aren't), I would have it put in the room it's going to be in, provided the delivery driver is willing to do it. Maybe offer him a "tip" in advance?

My new PB12-NSD/2 was dropped in front of my garage, fully boxed on a pallet, and even with a hand truck it was tough getting it up the stairs once I opened it.
Last year, I picked up a used PB12-Plus/2 (somewhat heavier), and this time I ended up removing the base and both drivers just to get it into my van. Good luck!
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

  • I'm still running my old SVS PB12 plus/2. I had considered down sizing to a pair of smaller subs but the guys at SVS told me I'd need 2 PB2000's to match the out put of the PB 12 plus/2, I don't think that would really be much of a down size though. :#:#

I had the framers and insulation guys go overboard on the room when it was built.
I love the PC2000s but I wanted to know I had headroom on all the speakers. Im not looking for structural murder for sure.
With that sub in the back i should have all my seats covered for good sound I hope.

Holy crap (LOL!) barely scratches the surface. "Too much" may be just enough!

I have 5 subs - one on each corner, solid down to 27hz plus a system/LFE good to 20hz. However it's likely the combined output can't equal the dBs or headroom at the bottom.

Do you plan to add more area rug(s)?

5 subs no bad seat in your room for bass.

Yes looking for a different larger rug. Also looking to possibly do some room treatment on the walls. Still trying to find some the wife will approve.
I also plan to insulate the ceiling in the basement this weekend with it not finished yet. That should help some.

With 1200 watts per sub I can tell thes things are very accurate and have a very good response to them. They
start and stop on a dime. SVS did a great job on the 4000 line.

Just installed a dedicated 20amp circuit for just my dual PC4000’s. I now have 1 20amp circuit for the rack and 1 for the subs.
The detail and extension of the subs is noticeable. I have decided I didn’t need the extra PC 2000 in the back of the room. The 4000’s are no joke. Very detailed and controlled for all sources.
Now thinking of adding a PS Audio Dectet for the sub circuit.

I think it may create a bottleneck for the subs

I did use 1 Dectet per mono amp that worked very well, but not so much with both amps on a single Dectet ...IMHO

    Ok good to know.
What about possibly a Furman with Power Factoring capacity? Would it have to be same issue with that reserve built in.
They can be had at a good price open box.

I’m thinking I should reach out to Ed Mullen at SVS too. The owners manual on the subs says the subs have their own power correction and protection built in.
It would be good to see if they even recommend one.
