Power Circuit Upgrade

I just finished closing the wall to an upgraded power circuit for my 2 channel system.
I installed a sub-panel with four 20 amp dedicated circuits. Each circuit has 10/2 MC cable feeding two duplex hospital grade outlets.
The panel is fed via a 60 amp breaker with #6 wire and has a #4 solid wire ground.
In addition the sub-panel is protected with a panel mounted surge protector.

I sold my Tripp-Lite 2400 (with noisy transformer) and am plugging everything directly into the wall.
I separated my components between the four circuits as listed below:
1. Amplification
2. Analog
3. Digital
4. Video

I am very happy with the results.
I seem to drawn into the music no matter which source I select. :)

I'd still use a power conditioner for everything but the amps and subs.

Just my opinion, but I think you actually have less protection for your electronic components with the whole house type surge protector than you did with the Tripp-Lite, providing it was in good working order.

^This is cool. When I grow up and buy a home I'm going to install a similar setup.

You must have missed the part where he said the subpanel has a panel mounted surge protector... which means the entire panel (and anything running off it) is protected.

I have one on my main system and have 3 dedicated lines for my HT and the main reason I still run my ALC H15 is because it has more outlets than the regular wall.

As others have said "Lowe's/Home Depot, etc".
Mine fit the sub-panel and took up two circuit breaker slots. If fitting into a panel make sure the surge protector is compatible with the panel.

No cross noise contamination. Each will have its own dedicated circuit.

Last night I upgraded two outlets with Furutech copper outlets. One for my amplifi cation and one for digital. Got them from Doug.
Had a great listening session afterwards.
I plan to upgrade the power cords to the preamp, computer power supply and Marantz 8005 next.

If there is anyone on the fence thinking about an receptacle upgrade I recommend trying the Furutech FPX-CU.

I must say I have been pleasantly surprised that this could really improve SQ. Seems to be more air around individual voices and instruments with tighter bass and a sweeter presentation.

Sure would like to hear someone else's experience on this to verify that I am not crazy. :p

Make sure you also upgrade the wire leading to the panel box, and the breaker, and the panel box itself, and the cable leading to the meter, and the meter pack, and the meter, and the drop from the transformer. Also, make sure all of the power lines from the transformer back to the power generating plant are upgraded.

I just thought of something. Are the ground conductors in the MC isolated from the junction boxes? Are the receptacles? Inherently, the metal armor is grounded to those boxes and the panel box.

The MC metal armor is grounded to the sub-panel but the receptacle box is plastic.

That sounds like the most ideal method. I had never seen MC run to a plastic box. That's why I wondered. :)

I continued to upgrade the power circuitry. I added new power cords for the Quantum Byte/Mojo power supply, Marantz SA8005 and Hafler DH110 preamp.
I used Furutech FI-11M and FI-11 connectors along with Furez FZ100BS sleeving. Got these from Douglas Connection.
I combined these with 12awg shielded cable from VH Audio.
It took a while to burn in but the results are outstanding.
