going to try some Flora Springs Merlot ($22) Tomorrow with a beef Tenderloin I'm smoking :)

Most people smoke a cigar with a nice red wine. How do you keep a tenderloin lit?

I would like to suggest some Rombauer (particularly 2011) Zinfandel. The 2011 vintage was absolutely phenomenal! All are good, however.

Also, although not a Red, Rombauer's Chardonney is phenomenal. You absolutely can't beat it for the price.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Napa Valley is where it's at for Cab's.
California in general you really can't go wrong. The wine out there is so damn good.

Cheap stuff but good quality is Boogle. They make awesome tasting wines at an amazingly affordable price. You can serve it all day long.

A step up but still great pricing is The Dreaming Tree. Pick anything you want from them they are all high quality wines under $20

    Now for the serious stuff

Lava Vine - crazy amazing blends of Red. California at it's finest for blends
Reverie - Anther killer brand for Blends
V.Sattuii incredible Cab's and even German Riesling. Not the sweet crap but the semi and dry real German tasting stuff.
Frank Family - Best cab in the world if you ask me. I never had better wines then Franks.
Wente - Now they are famous for White wines but they make great red's. There blends are master crafted and I took a class there and made my own. What a great place Livermore CA is. Wente is very impressive for all there wines. Buy there with confidence.

These are all California wines by the way.

An old girl friend of mine both enjoyed wine and cooking. Dated and lived together for a few years. Spent bukus on wine

Unfortunately one year to the next the vintage would change. Favorites will/can change.

FYI---enjoy a variety from cost effective to special occasions

Chasing wine is another hobby that be very fun....but also very expensive

Best enjoyed if your loved one enjoys it too....IMHO
