    Yeeeehawwww!
    New stuff!

Every time I clean up a rack I think it's only going to take me an hour or two... six to eight hours later, I'm picking up bits of velcro, putting away the vacuum, cleaners and microfiber cloths; wiped out.

Annnd, it's totally worth it B)

Did you make a conscious decision to go for the new features of the 7704 instead of the previous 7703 which is going for around $1500 while they clear out stock? If so, what was the biggest purchasing factor in the new version?

    Have fun!

Congrats! If it's anything like my AV8801 or better, I think you're really going to enjoy it. I was amazed how easy it was to set-up and the interface it excellent. You almost don't even need the manual. XT with Sub XT is also very good. And I also have to say, so far, everything has worked and is still working perfectly since the day I bought it. If you don't have plenty of room above it, check how hot it gets on top. I (and many others) had to place fans on top of it. Enjoy the weekend!

I went for the 7704 because I have a retail credit(on their dime) that put me in the same price point as the 7703.
I also figure it will give me a few more firmware updates for the future. I was told the 5010 and up will be getting the Dolby Vision update from the 7704 but that will be it for new features. The 5011 and up should have at least 1 more year of updates.

I guess we will see what the Auro 3D does on this unit. I do have Atmos ceiling speakers but not in the Auro setup they want. I guess free software on this line will help them get more traction with their marketshare.

    Excited to try it all.

Thanks. Good to hear you have had good results. I have loved the 5010 I have in the MB so Marantz was my pick on this purchase. I almost waited for the new 8804 and bought an 8802 on discount.
The sub XT is something I am excited to try with multiple subs. I am also super happy to have a little more control with Crossover settings. I have never liked the 1 size fits all approach of the MCACC Pro on the Elite.

Heat won't be an issue I always run open shelve racks on my systems. Helps with cleaning and heat for sure. Heat is you biggest killer of equipment. You can fry an egg on some setups I have seen.

The only thing keeping me from moving up to the 7703 or the 7704 is the fact that they took away the wides...the 7702(I and II) is 13 channels via RCA and 11 via balanced while the 7703 and 7704 only have 11 for RCA and balanced.

If I wasn't planning on wides, the 7704 would be my top choice.

That all being said, congrats! I love Marantz Pre-Pros.

    100% agree!

The only reason I'm fine with it in my surround system with my SC87 is because I basically only use it for shows and movies and I don't notice it as much. If I used it for music, it would drive me nuts.

Congrats on the new gear, you should have a fun weekend ahead of you!

Well I get to wait until Tuesday to get it running. I went to pick up my XLR cables this morning and I guess they are still in Cali due to the fires slowing down things.
So Tuesday it is. Sad to see so many people with nothing left. I won't complain.

I have time to set up the workout room and crank those LS90's for awhile . Not a bad day for sure.

With the mess I have made tearing down the rack my wife was worried that football was going to be unwatchable this weekend. Nope we can use the TV speakers for the first time. LOL

Yes, very tiny, tinny sounding speakers. That alone will make him rush to get everything hooked back up!

Well its taken a few long days to put everything back together. It is a pain for sure.
The Marantz is a fun unit and does sound better on all formats. The subs both got moved to the front and I plan to add another one back in the rear corner again. The front stage sounds awesome but I do miss the sub in the back. Should work great.
Now relax and watch some BD's.

    Agreed.
I put the 5010 in the MB and I saw the light. Great upgrade I think.

I do have to say moving my SC-87 to the workout room with the LS90's was an upgrade too. In Pure direct mode with those D3 amps its heaven.

mmm-hmmm. Marantz kind of cornered the market on aesthetics -- umm -- a while back :)
