So -- we're big fans of the Vermont Public Radio (VPR) network. Despite the fact that we live in New Hampshire, we listen to VPR regularly and support them as well.

VPR fairly recently expanded and upgraded their headquarters in Colchester, VT (near Burlington) after a $10 million dollar capital campaign. Their 40th on-air anniversary was also a few weeks ago. As a thank you to their listeners & supporters, they had an open house/block party today at their HQ. Mrs. H and I took advantage of a nice (albeit somewhat mercurial) fall day to drive up there to check things out.

I've actually been up there once before (for the taping of a radio program, with our daughter -- my wife having been out of town that particular day), but didn't really have a chance to look around much. Today, the place was wide open for visitors (with some carefully placed security, but still very relaxed and low-key).

Now, the only reason I'm telling all y'all this. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a familiar looking pair of loudspeakers sitting on the floor in front of their smaller studio/performance space. They weren't playing, but they were wired up.

Now, over on their "engineering" side (nuts and bolts of broadcasting), besides lots of cool stuff with blinking lights of various colors -- they had a couple of folks talking about solutions for 'problem reception' (a big problem for OTA radio, and also for internet access up in the remote parts of VT and NH). They had a table full of radios of various flavors (including a NIB Sony HD tuner -- that legendary one). Besides a nice Advent 400 (not even discolored by years of sunlight), another product sitting there caught my eye :)

    @mhardy6647,

    Thanks for posting pictures and a narrative about this event.

    Aside from the Polk products and other interesting equipment, where did that rocking chair come from? A local Vermont craftsman, Perhaps? If it is as comfortable as it looks, I covet it! :)
    Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.

    Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. I live just a few miles from that new building. If I had known about this, I would have met you there and taken you both out to a nice dinner. I hope you had a pleasant day up here in Vermont. :)

    But of course! :)
    Yes those are made in VT. You can find them in the rest areas on the VT freeways (both of them ;)), too.

    They are indeed comfortable. I espied at least four of 'em yesterday @ the studios.

    No way!
    No need to do that, but it would be fun to meet a local (relatively speaking) PF member.

    @mhardy6647,

    Thanks for the link. I'm going to consult the interior design department in this family* about pursuing one or more of those.

    *My wife, of course.
