Showed on the news tonight some of the items purchased/donated by JJ Watt. Good to see money being used so quickly and for its intended purpose.

Any effort, if it has anything of an effort to the greater good. That is what really matters.

I have a few friends in Panama City beach. One who is a retired coast guard. Couple of days ago on their own dime, loaded up, brought boats, supplies and have been helping out. Mike has sent me a few pictures of people he has helped rescue and some of the areas hit. It's really seems like something you only see in movies. I am proud of the individuals who have stood up selflessly to help out. People who are not being paid to be there and doing this out of the goodness of their heart. Even with everything wrong in the world and a horrific disaster as this, we still have some darn good people in this world willing to help their fellow men and women.

HY-VEE, grocery chain is matching donations that the customer contributes, Fareway another grocery chain is sending trucks of bottled water and food for local food banks in the Texas locations. I will make sure I shop at both these places and contribute.

I am not going to knock any big corporation that gives back in situations like this. But the flip side, and probably equally as motivating, is the huge PR a company gets for helping with relief efforts. I'd be more impressed with companies that give in situations like this but you never hear about it. Once it's plastered all over the media and the donating corporation is front and center you know it's not purely altruistic.

Don't get me wrong, they don't have to do it, but there is an underlying motive (for some, not all) to be recognized as a "do good-er" and they will reap the benefits from the publicity.

I am sure many, many people and organizations are helping and one never knows who they are beyond the area that's getting the relief.

Atleast they aren't schmucks like Joel Osteen and they are helping.

P.s just had to get that off my chest

P.s.s. The above statement isn't directed at JJ Watt, he's doing a great job of raising awareness and $$$ at the same time.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

Let's not forget the ability to dump products near expiration and the tax write off....

My wife and I donated. My wife took off work two days ago, went out and bought many things. I have nothing else to contribute to this thread.

We wish for the best for everyone affected and hope our small contributions could help.

    Cheers.
