I dug out my two very old Weber's and smoked some pork riblets aka Featherbones in the Midwest. Used hickory and a little cherry wood. Seasoned them overnight with a nice blend of spices. Will finish them tomorrow in an electric roaster for about an hour steamed with water and a can of beer. Then add homemade bbq sauce. I did 10 lbs. Sweet corn, salads, garlic bread. More beer. Yum. Haven't done this in about five years.0ak98lsbj6y4.jpg

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

    Ditto!

FWIW, we're a two-Weber family here, too. Actually, three, if you count a fully-functional (and occasionally employed) Smokey Joe I picked up at the good ol' Harvard, MA town dump some years back!

I still 1) like charcoal the best and 2) like Webers the bestest.

On my way to work, saw this 'lil B-17 sitting at the University Park Airport. Pretty cool seeing it that close. Heard it flying around yesterday.

    That (the B-17) is epic.
It must've been phenomenal to see it up close, virtually by accident.

It is a sublime treat to hear a multi-engine prop-driven (radial engine) behemoth like that drone overhead; a sound that is all but lost today (at least for most folks in most locales).

The B-17s, if memory serves, started flying in the 1930s (i.e., before WWII started); that airframe is probably pushin' 80 years old!

Mark - it was a nice little surprise. I didn't really get too up close. I was standing behind the fence in the parking lot - about 25' away. ;)

This isn't the first time this plane was in our neighborhood, but here's a cool video about this latest visit...

I remember my neighbors had one of these back in the day. I was pretty young and they were the hippie types.

I thought it was cool but in todays world would be really cheesy.
