I found a GFA-545ii at a thrift store for $99. I almost walked out with it but then I found a place to plug it in. The Thermal / Protect light stayed illuminated. I went out to my can an grabbed my DMM and checked the outputs for DC. One side read essentially 0mV which I thought seemed odd but maybe ok. The other channel read 1.2V.

I walked away even though I could likely fix it and now I am wondering if I should go back. I don't really need the amp but I like a project and to try different stuff. However, I don't know if it could out do my souped HCA-1000A.

I don't think it would out do an unsouped up HCA-1000A.

That being said, it might be fun to fix and flip if you have the ability to do so...which I don't.

That is my problem. I buy stuff that needs fixin', I fix but then I don't sell and it piles up in my basement. It drives my wife nuts.

That amp usually sells for < $200 if working. Not worth the trouble to me.

I bought a 545II in mint condition went to the guys house he hooked them up to a huge pair of Legacy speakers after about a 15 minutes audition the right Channel went out popped the hood replaced the fuse and it's been pushing a pair of 2Bs no problem. I can only assume that the Legacies were to much a load considering he was driving them with a big ol Creek Integrated.
