New RTiA's in the House

After many many good years in the House the RT2K's and Cs1000p have been upgraded.
Musically they are a big upgrade but it will be the movies that will tell the story for this room. William Bell is breaking them in right now.
I also installed 4 RT-70 Ceiling speakers for Atmos.

The UPS guy was glad he didn't live next to me.
Now I can only hope the DLP will die for the next Phase of this room.
SVS might see a sale before that happens.
It never ends does it.
Love the Polks!

Very nice setup. Dark Knight trilogy time on them?

Agree on the SVS or an HSU

That sound like a good plan. We watched the 2 hour season ending of Gotham tonight. No better time to continue the fun.

    Question with the center.
What should I run it as? Large or small. Also what crossover do you guys recommend.
With the 1000p it was full range and then adjust the sub volume.
I am going to save for the sub next but I am happy with how well the PSW1200 blends with the 9's.

You might want to try bringing them out from the back wall and toe them in a bit. You may also find that amp and speakers to not be the best match.

Try the center both ways. One will sound better than the other.

Definitely find some time I'm down.

I also moved the speakers around to day. Pulled out the fronts a bit and toed them in to the center.
Sound is improved. good call F1nut.

    I also moved the surrounds.

UPS can go both directions with their service for sure. One of the four speakers was delivered a week earlier. The UPS driver was concerned about the speaker and stuck around to make sure I was OK with its condition.
    Cool guy.
The other 3 came when I wasn't home. My wife was concerned about the condition of the boxes when she saw the foot prints.
The drivers response was "Hey lady we're just a delivery service. Please sign"
She made him note the damage to the boxes. Luckily everything was good.

Years ago my PSW 1200 was delivered three times before I got one in good shape. One had a forklift hole right through the speaker. Crutchfield loved that call.

^^UPS,I received a delivery of Polk speakers last Friday, I being the last stop almost 7:00pm. Driver asked "you waiting on something good" ? He remarked, out of this whole truck these speakers were the only thing worth delivering today, the rest was all junk. He carried all 4 large cartons in the front door and parked in the foyer.

  • if it had boot prints someone probably stood on it or walked on it.

i worked for a delivery company.. the things your packages go thew are often horrible they get thrown, kicked, walked on, they slide down big steep chutes and slam into the other packages at the bottom.. they get jammed on conveyor belts and if that belt doe snot get stopped right when it jams packages keep piling up on the jam and poorly packed packages burst open and the contents often flys all over the place. packages are stacked in containers as they show up.. it may be a 5 lb tiny package but it goes in the container in any old spot and the next package to be stacks is 120lbs it just gets stacked onto of that little flimsy box anyways. if the container is stacked up close to full which is above yoru head and a small package comes they just fling the small package into the gap on the top of the container. those are just a few of the things your packages go the at the sort facilitys.

its basically grab that package as it come down the belt, get it in the container and out of your hands as fast as possible. if it says fragile chances are the people at the sort facility are moving so fast they do not even see the fragile sticker or they just dont have time to pay any attention to the fact its fragile.

the delivery drive just drives your packages to your house, and if you get something that you get looks damaged or beat up definitely make sure the driver puts a note about that if you sign for it.

most packages make it thew just fine especially if they are properly packed, poorly packed packages on the other hand..

ups is one of the worst for beating up packages too.

I deal with them all, all day everyday NONE of them are any worse or better that the others. To say UPS is worse than Fedex, DHL or USPS is just not true. Beat on USPS all you want a lot of their packages are delivered to the local PO sorting centers by UPS and Fedex. I watched a driver throw and smash packages in their truck and asked him

How would you like it if that was you item ?

They looked at me with a straight face and said If I can't go pick it up at the store I do not need it.

    To which I asked

Just how do you think it gets to the store ?

Once again with a straight face they asked

Have you ever dealt with ( insert any of them here) their damage claim folks? Yep that's why I go to the store I can take it back with absolutely no hassle or argument as to what happened.

yep they're some real great drivers that care then there is ALL the others that give them all a bad rep.

there are actual stats out there on how many packages each year on average get damaged by each company.. ups damaged way more packages each year that the other company's did. they all damaged allot but ups by far was the worst.

according to my buddy who owns a business its almost impossible to get a refund for something they damaged no matter which company it is, its always your fault, you did not pack it properly.. so i can understand why the driver said that.

i know once i shipped a package and it was lost, they basically said to go screw my self when i tried to make a claim.. every place i called told me to call some other number and they would send me around in circles i never did get refunded for the package they lost.

When I got my S60 I had UPS hold them at the sort facility by my house. When I drove over there the guy was like "we will deliver these" I said no these are big boxes and I want to pick them up. When I picked them up there was a little damage to the boxes but other than that they were fine. Guy @ UPS said I now see why you wanted to pick them up.

I am a warehouse manager, I see UPS and FedEx everyday with overloaded trucks. They will move big packages to get to smaller ones. it's how these big boxes are moved is where damage caused.

I worked ups part time as a college student, main hub across from the Air & space museum NY. There were three jobs available; stacker, sorter & loader. I was a sorter.

Man were they busy. Packages were purposely dropped, kicked, thrown etc. hey look a bundle of playboys for delivery to a news stand. If dropped just right the bundle would pop open & hey look... something to read. Fragile??? whats in there?? Funny in a sort of way but, now as an adult...not so funny.

They were great at letting you work & just before you made book(union & benefit status) they would fire you & then call you back two weeks later. Was a great paying job for a student.

    Enjoy your new sounds!!

UPS nearly paid for his college in full via tuition reimbursement. He respects position and takes his work serious. They do have a revolving door when it comes to part time for sure. Most people can't or don't want to work so hard.
2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

It is imperative that we recognize that an opinion is not a fact.

Imagine making politics your entire personality.

A lot of insight into shipping and what we don't want to know is going on with our stuff.
With everything we buy being shipped these days I'm afraid it probably will get worse.

Loving the new set up. I'm leaning towards upgrading the sub in the fall to complete the speaker upgrade.

...set all the speakers to small... ...set each xover to 80hz.
Leave the "heavy lifting" to the sub. At least as much as it can take
I am running Emotiva XPA3 3-channel (275/channel* on my front A9s/CSI6 and running XPA3 4-channel (260watts/channel*) on my sides and rears. The headroom** and dynamics** is astonishing**.
With these* as a starting point, especially across the front, your system has no choice**! You should enjoy sweet sounding SQ. Don't know what it is w/the bigger RTi series speakers once you're well north of the 200 WPC mark, they really wake up! 500+ through my 'A7s pluse 250+ through my 'A6 CC = effortless SQ!

To the OP, marcpamjoce, and any one else wanting a BIGGER bang for a few cents and a little time: "up the ante" w/ bigger internal wire to mids and especially those woofers. I speak from experience.
