HDTracks disappointing issue

I have been buying downloads from HDTracks for a couple of years now, and have spent a good amount of money there. One reason why is I periodically would get discount coupons via email. Last week it occurred to me that I had not received a coupon in a while, so I inquired if they stopped that program. I was told that the program was still in place, but I had unsubscribed from it.

While I do not remember doing that, I did unsubscribe from some other emails a month or so ago. Apparently, one of those emails was tied to HDTracks. Oh well, we all make mistakes.

So, I asked them to subscribe me, and the answer was no. They said I had to subscribe again with another email address. My reply was that makes no sense. Why should I have to get a second email address just to get onto a list? If one can unsubscribe then one should be able to subscribe again. Sorry, they said. That is the way it is.

So, no more HDTracks purchases from me. Time to start using Super HighRez for downloads.

Well, they just sent me a private coupon good for three weeks with 20% off storewide. I guess I will stock up on some metal albums I have been meaning to get.

Downloading $210 before discount, which is $42. Not bad.

I like HDTracks, but not being able to get back onto the discount email distribution list is just poor, poor, software design. They said it was bought from some 3rd party. I wonder if it was Vanilla. :)

Yeah, that's just stupid on their part. On the other hand, I probably have something like 6 different email addresses, so no problem giving them a different one...

Now that I can't get notices from HD Tracks, unless the email is forwarded to me, I will be using Super Hi Rez.

I buy all my Hi Rez files from them and my Vinyl unless Music Direct has a much better deal.

Unsubbing via email and then emailing that same address can break some laws technically. I can see why they would just say get a new address to avoid possible issues even if they add you back in. Would cause the wrong eyes to look at them for CAN-SPAM Act violations.

When this sort of thing happens to me, I let my wife (we call her The Fixer) handle it. She's polite, but firm. By the time she's finished with (fill in the blank) they all wish they had dealt with me, as it would have been far cheaper.
If you have any Dutch women in your life, turn them loose on HDTracks (which I use BTW) and you'll be in fine shape.
