    Hearingimpaired was banned, I wonder if he is even alive, he fell off the wagon or something and dumped all his gear.. I would still like to have one of those TT Clamps..

    What was that guy's name? Was he the one making those clamps I've read about? I can't remember who/what they were called, only that everyone who got one loved it.

    I have "The Clamp" also. A device that was very well engineered and way ahead of its time. Joe was obviously battling some demons which I hope he finally conquered. I think he said at one time the Clearaudio Twister clamp was somewhat equivalent to his, although it does not use shims under the record.

    Joe was a standup guy in my book, no details necessary but I also hope he's doing OK.

    The Twister is a very good alternative to The Clamp, even though it's not as heavy. I was lucky enough to get in on The Clamp demo (even though I could not spring for one at the time), but Joe was kind enough to send me the same set of 3 shims that his Clamp utilized when I bought the Twister, and I had good results with them. IIRC he had sold out of the limited quantity he had of the Clamp fairly quickly, not surprising.

    So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    It was made from Delrin with a brass collet and chuck. The cool thing about his design was it pulled down on the spindle as you tightened it and helped flatten the record. I'm not up on clamps these days, so there may be others that do the same thing now.

    The sad thing for me is I could have been a member back in 2000 when I purchased my first polks (RT55i's) and I registered them on polks website, I even looked around the forum back then, even joined but never posted, and never gave it a second thought till I purchased my RTiA9's in 09, so I was this close to being one of those really old members..

    The Clearaudio Twister is designed much like The Clamp, same materials only not as much mass. There is another one made by JA Michell (Needle Doctor sells a few different types) which is reportedly a good product too.
    When I finally was able to purchase The Clamp, I PMd Joe but he had sold all he had on hand, and told me he had no intention of doing another run of them. It was he who advised me to get the Twister, and ultimately sent me the pack of shims to use.
    So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?
