Ok it don't have to be your favorite SACD as far as music goes but the one you would play to show what your system is capable of. This arrived yesterday #32 I believe, not only after spending a couple of hours with it on two separate systems I do belive it edges out Tubular Bells, here it is (drum Roll)

This one is mind blowing the wife is not home allowing me to play this at a respectable volume. I am curious of others on what their choice for best sounding SACD in their collection is.

Well, tried and true - Steely Dan Gaucho on SACD will make any system sound good.

Next would be Wish You Were Here.

I have a Godsmack SACD that I purchased many, many moons ago. While I was never a fan of their music, this one proved me otherwise. Very well recorded IME and it's a Hybrid CD on what appears to be 24K gold. I haven't listened to the multi channel surround sound, only 2 channel. Even the RB layer sounds rather good.

The album is called "The Other Side".

Is there a "best" SACD honestly?

Things are what they are. Many players that have been presented as well as many more are all contenders.

DVD-A is not included in this thread. My preference changes with that. I am sure many more would agree. Let's stick to the topic at hand for now or present another thread for that. *winks*

My favorite sounding SACD I used to own is probably the Dire Straits Brothers In Arms SHM-SACD made in Japan. Unfortunately, this doesn't contain all of the album so I sold it and own the MFSL SACD of the album.

Another great sounding SACD is the the YES album of Tales From Topographic Oceans. Great sounding SACD, IMO. Lastly would be Roger Waters Amused To Death. This one sounds excellent!

My apologies. I did sound a bit direct, didn't I? I was just saying that my preferences would change if we were going off of a favorite sounding Blu-Ray and that if we introduced different formats? I was just afraid that the confusion level would remain high due to members not knowing which format a particular selection was.

Please accept my apologies. I really meant no harm and I didn't really type out in the best way possible what it was I was trying to relay.

That one is fantastic on standard redbook. Didn't know it was available on SACD, but now that I do I may have to see if I can find a copy at a reasonable price.

Hello all, I believe this one would qualify as one of my best sounding SACD's. While it may not be a "top shelf" SACD for normal folks, I put it in tonight and was very pleasantly surprised at all aspects of the reproductive effort.

    512txT7roqL.jpg

It's James Taylor, "Hourglass". I listen only in 2 channel but this one is a really good recording. It lets you know this during playback. I bought it before my new toy came in, so I have never listened to it before but I'm....as I said, pleasantly surprised.
