Well, I'm pretty happy with the result. Not perfect but they are much better than when I bought them. The sound seems a bit off-center so I still need to do a bit of trouble shooting when I get some time.

Thanks guys! The 2000 grit abralon hand rubbing over gloss creates a really nice finish but it's a lot of work.

You've done a very nice job of renovating these old classics, I think they look great.
Hope you get your center imaging worked out, I had a bad connection between a jumper wire on the binding posts at one time on a pair of SDA's, they acted much the same. -

I think that an updated grill cover would look great if it just covered the outline of the drivers and left some of the new cherry wood exposed above and below that dimensional. It would showcase the mirror imaging design of that particular SDA too.

Thanks everyone! I thought I would post a photo of the matching center channel on the 1 year anniversary of the start of this thread. Its a monitor 5Jr/Monitor 10 hybrid based on the design developed by westmassguy (thanks again!). It works very well with the SDAs.
