    Roon is FAB if:

    You have Tidal subscription - you can add Tidal albums to your personal integrated
    library and it is as if all are there - your personal rips and the lossless Tidal albums.

    You don't immediately require a Roon-proper phone control app. It's on the way, but not ready yet. Latest gen iPads and Kindles have working apps currently. I currently use desktop app (req'd for system) and remote Macbook app for den.

    You have wireless endpoints and they are compatible. There are a few gaps. For example, for my Bryston BDP-1, there's no direct integration (in BDP firmware), but there seem to be workarounds for most devices (DLNA, Squeezelite, Shareplay). Play through Squeezelite is excellent, but not as good as it will be once integrated firmware is Roon-certified.

    You're willing to pay the Roon script. There's an excellent free trial, $120/yr, $500 lifetime. So with Tidal and Roon 1yr, it's $20/mo.

    You don't require streaming from base to a remote location. Cloud solution is in works but not expected anytime soon.

    I guess there is some amount of risk that the Tidal partnership may end; but it seems like Tidal is being integrated or embedded pretty widely. I LOVE having artist bio, album reviews, ratings, rip quality, similar artists, related artists (mostly from Allmusic) right there, visible on the large screen. Also, there are live links for all of that, so you can explore and learn for hours. UI is very intuitive. I'll be upping from 1yr to life soon. Love it. If you use Tidal, you should at least give it a try.
