So I tried to swap the stock power cable with a Miova I had lying around. I couldn't get the female end in. Not the same size and only two prong. Besides buying a new cable what can I do? If I do buy a new cable what should I look for (not brand) but female end size?

Another question, I bought my PB10 used, how can I tell if it's an NSD or ISD?

SO today I picked up another SVS, a PB12-Plus/2 in rosewood, to go along with my existing PB12-NSD/2, but mine has the textured black finish. It's about the same age as mine, bought in 2007-08, and while I am psyched to be getting this, I am unsure about whether to keep both, or sell the NSD and use the Plus by itself? In all honesty, I am not too keen on the rosewood, it really does not fit with the current décor and WAF is always a consideration. That, plus I am not sure I could even find the proper placement for the 2nd one; they are not exactly easily concealed! My first thought would be to use a thin tablecloth to cover it. My second would be to have it spray painted piano-gloss black? Option 3 is to keep the NSD, and try to flip the Plus and pocket the difference; the major drawback to selling either of them is the prohibitive cost in shipping, as the NSD weighs in at 125lb., the Plus closer to 140.

An interesting scenario, to be sure, but no matter what I decide to do, I will certainly at least give the Plus a decent audition in the HT. Anyone have any other ideas or opinions, I'd love to hear 'em

Got my SB-2000 in this week. Got a great deal with the sale.

Letting it break in, initial impressions are very positive. Tight and fast, good volume.

This is replacing my Velodyne SPL-1000 II. The SPL was a GREAT little sub. For the size of it, it kicked serious butt. However the amp went out on it, again. Decided not to repair it, for now.

Done a bit of music and movie listening. It blends very well with the Focal's, it's REALLY nice to have a working sub again!

The finish is really, really nice (Piano black). Kind of shocked to see that they ship this sub with an 18 gauge power cord. I had an extra 14 gauge cable sitting around (I think it's the stock cable from my HCA-1500A), so I used that instead.

Going to let it break in some more and keep messing around with settings. But so far I'm really impressed with what this can do for the $$.

How could I forget my old PB12-Plus in the family room surround system. I recall swapping the woofer out with an SVS upgraded woofer shortly after I got it. I ran coax in wall to an F connector wall plate.

I'll never forget the first time I heard, and felt, that sub Rich. It made my pant legs flutter. Insane.

Shortly after that, I bought an SVS 20-39 PCi and enjoyed it for many years.

When I moved to an apartment, I didn't see it realistically being a part of the picture here. I hated selling it. That sub always put a smile on my face and, at times, made me giggle like a small child.

Now that I'm having "bass issues" with the ELAC Uni-Fi speakers, I just ordered an SBS-1000 from the outlet. I still have the original driver from my 20-39 PCi because, like you, I upgraded to the "new" NSD driver a week or two after I purchased my sub.

I asked SVS about using the original driver in a diy sub and they said it might be a good idea for me to mimic the SB-1000's cabinet and to purchase a plate amp with a High Pass Filter. Now the wheels are turning!

Congradulations! I love my sb1000, it's some major bang for buck. I'm pretty sure I brag about that little sub more than my pb ultras... And I have 2 of them. It's a great little sub.

The UB5 ELAC bookies are scheduled to be delivered the same day as the SB-1000. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. lol.

Any thoughts on plate amps or should I post that question in the diy section?

I would say it's a good thing. But I've had the predicament of adding too many new parts to a system at once. Sometimes it's nice to add thing incrementally and it makes you more away of the changes.

I would post your plate amp question in the DIY section. Those guys know their stuff.

+1, SVS subs used Bash amps for many years, mine is 9 years old and has never had an issue. *knocks wood*

My 20-39PCi had a BASH amp and I never had an issue. I started a post in the diy section last night. Thanks for the input!

@mikeyb128 - Yes, I agree that adding one thing at a time is key to the process.

Halo, quit yappin and get to unpackin! I want pics and a review ASAP. I'm thinking of getting one of these to replace my Boston sub.

I got my brother the PB 1000, and it is pretty big and too heavy for me. I think the SB will be fine for me. Hopefully it won't stomp all over my DSW 400 too badly.

lol. You are all cracking me up :D

@cfrizz - the SVS will stomp the guts out of most other subwoofers. Ported more so than sealed. Sealed is better for music and ported is better for HT. That said, I am a wheelchair user and the cylinder sub is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. I unpacked and installed my first SVS all by myself. I haven't unboxed the SB-1000 but, IIRC, it's even lighter than the cylinder sub that I owned prior to this one. Being a cylinder means it's easy for me to roll on its bottom edge and into position. With the 45 day risk free in home trial you've got no excuses and nothing to lose. The cylinder may cost more but, if you want it for movies, it is well worth the extra $. If you want one for music, you'll probably be fine with the SB-1000.
