Broken Wireless Adapter

We had bought a set of headphones (Xbox 360 Melee) that came with an Xbox One wireless adapter set, which has suddenly broke one night. The light showing my microphone was muted will not turn off and it will not produce any sound through my headset no matter how much I turn the volume up and down, charge the batteries on my controllers, or change the headphone cords. However, the headphones and headphone cords are not the problem, as the headphones (and cords) work perfectly fine while plugged into any other device.
