DB6501 for my stock stereo?

hi. i was wondering if DB6501 would work on my subaru impreza 97 stock stereo which is 80watts not sure if 4x80w or 4x20w i couldn't find more info on that. it probably is 4x20w though. so due to the fact that DB6501 power handling is 100w, im guessing per speaker, will my stereo handle it? if not what wattage do i need ? or how does that work.

    I installed the slim version of those in a 2006 sonata with the stock head unit and it was a HUGE improvement over the stock speakers and sounded pretty darn good. So I would say go for it!

    do you remember what wattage your stereo had? i read a lot of scary stuff that
    i can burn my stereo or that my speakers will glitch

    Youll be fine. It wont push them to their fullest potential but theyll still sound good. Now remember, the DB's are meant to work with a sub and your stock speakers are meant to sound good without a sub. So when you install the DB's, youll have less low end impact but youll have better midrange and high end sound. Not saying the DB's will sound flat, just that they wont have as much boom as the stockers which are meant to have lots of boom because people associate big bass with good sound so they can use cheap crappy speakers and people will think theyve got a banging system when actually theyve got a system that plays 80-100 Hz really well. Unfortunately there is a lot more to play.

    hmm.. didn't know that thanks very much for mentioning what DB is. thought its gonna be relatively cheap for me but now i guess i need to get subs and an amp... or maybe i should buy different speakers? what do you guys think?

    The DB's are better speakers and you should always get the best speakers you can afford. Id get them and give them a try. If you just have to have more subbass, then you can look into adding an amp.
