Does anyone have the owners manuel or specs for the RTA-12b's? I just picked up a pair but the previous owner could not locate it at the time. Also does polk carry suitable replacement woofers for these? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Call Polk on Monday morning, they still sell replacement woofers.

As for specs, you should be able to find them by using the search feature here.

The woofer is just a passive radiator, why are you replacing it? Did it get damaged? I am new to the Polk world as I have only had my rta-12c's for a few months but smile every chance I get to push them. Please take pictures of the insides of the speakers if you wind up replacing the 'woofers'.

Yes, you may still purchase replacement mid-bass drivers.

I was just wondering if they had replacements. The ones I purchased are in excellent condition except for the grill post that hold the top hat grill. 3 are broken but I am going to replace them.

You can get the grill posts (headlock fasteners) from any speaker supply place like Madisound or Parts Express. The generic kind fit the top of the cabinet perfectly (I just replaced 3 of mine today) The tops of my "top hat" grilles were a bit faded, so I bought some black fabric dye (RIT, in a bottle) and used a pump sprayer to re-blacken the tops of the top hats. They look like new after the spritzer.

Boywonder, do the headlock fasteners unscrew or just pull out? I need to replace three, and have yet to do it, figured gravity would keep the top hats in place. After a loud listening session I noticed both top hats had vibrated so the sat askew, yep they play loud!

The PE ones don't fit perfectly. They fit, but the actual treelock is a bit smaller.

TX - Sometimes they pop out easily, sometimes not. Be careful as getting them out may damage the veneer around it. I usually drill out the center and them get the rest out with small pliers and a dental pick.

I drilled them out and pried them off with a small pointy tool. My headlocks have been in the drawer from a speaker project exactly 20 years ago, so I actually haven't bought any recently from PE or Madisound.....

Are both of your mid-woofers 6501's with original dates?? Mine RTA-12's also have differing dust caps, but I was assuming it was because the outer drivers were replaced with 6503's. I guess my question is are the drivers in a original pair of RTA-12C's the same?
