I was reading the mod list and my first thought was "They've gone too far and changed them into something else, they're not even MastersounD amps anymore".

    Just my opinion.

I don't think those mods are so extreme. Those are mods most would love to do to their amps. Depends who did them, which is more important to me.

    ^^^ I totally agree ^^^

Hard maple with dovetails on an amp? come on man that is a big turn off, what do you do when the wood warps a bit? Wood will expand and contract with heat. So they took $40k amps and put them in a $200 maple case WTF

At least they could have used Brazilian Cherry or something nicer
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

There's dovetail joined furniture from years long gone by that still holds up beautifully. Nothing wrong with dovetail joints.

As far as the wood goes I'm ok with that too, but, other species would have been preferred by me. The light finish doesn't work for me. That's an easy fix. I won't let that detract me from a good deal.
  • The wood cabinets look alright to me.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

The biggest one is the wood cabinet. I think it’s hideous personally. It is a solution but it looks like they butchered a pair of really nice high end monos. Something of this caliber deserves a better finish than that. YMMV.

Looks like he re-purposed some kitchen drawers! Yep they could’ve done something more stylish.

Yeah, but, if you're thinking they're keepers it's no big deal...except saving a bunch of money. The ad does state that they were 40k new with 10k in upgrades. Not sure about that 10k number, but, maybe.

Reminds of the classic car market. You have the purists who would never go for a resto-mod, thinking that it’s blasphemous.

Certainly the originals go for high dollar, but I prefer the mods cause they take IMO what is by today’s automotive standards, something that is generally unreliable, poor handling, varying build quality car and make it better!

Each one has its own market. FWIW.
