Save an M0.5t?

An old carver M0.5t amp needs a refresh/fixing. The cost is around $400. I was interested in an amp for the SDA 2b I have. Is this amp worth rescuing or is $400 better spent on a different amp?

    Someone is trying to rob you - A recap and calibration on that amp is $100 job tops, plus shipping. Unless the transformer is bad, a likely repair should be <$25. That said, I would want a bit more amp behind those speakers.

    Lots of REALLY solid amps can be had used for $400. Heck, with patience you could pick up marantz or outlaw mono blocks. Or a Parasound hca 1200 or possible even 1500, lots of good rotel and b&k amps etc. I would sell it for parts and move on...

    Of course the mono bloc's would present another problem with these speakers...
