Windows 10 April 2018 Update

I wanted to give everyone a heads up. There is a new massive update for Win10 that was released today. After downloading, it takes a LONG time to install, so if you choose to install during the day, it's one of those updates that you can't use your computer during the install process, which is over an hour. I just didn't want you to think it's one of those five or ten minute updates, this is one of those twice a year big ones.

And let me guess, it'll do the usual Windows 10 **** like try to turn my WiFi back on, mess with my default program assignments, put icons back into my start menu that I don't want, etc.

Oh no. I actually shut down my laptop before I left, and now I’m back... I’m kind of afraid that it’s gonna update because if it does I can’t do any schoolwork for an hour :grimace:

I tried to do the update and it said I was up to date. What a wagon-load of utter poppycock and complete balderdash!

It's my understanding that the update is being released to different users over the next few weeks. The order in which it is available to users is in direct correlation to their coolness. You should get it towards the end of the month.

I remember doing an update in April and it pretty much almost brought my system to a halt.

So I went back to the earlier version and I'm waiting for a revision.

Best, most trouble free operating system Microsoft ever made, imo. And they didn't take your privacy away.

7 'til I can't run it no mo'
10's grown on me slightly, as far as forced OSes go.

Side note, Windows "Millennium". How prophetic.
Worked for two weeks before quitting.
Complained and was unreliable the whole time.

My desktop wouldn't update to the Fall Creators update, or whatever they called it. Just keep trying and failing. Fortunately, the April update installed okay, and precluded the need for the old one.

It did take a pretty long time to download, probably 2 hrs. Then about 20 mins. to install.

I was getting sick of spending 2 hours trying to figure out how to reset all of my settings after installing one of these bi-annual updates, so this time I wrote all of the steps down to get things back to how they were. Hopefully next time it will only take me 5 minutes of following my own instructions instead of 2+ hours of frustration. :p

I got the update a couple weeks ago, no issues here other than windows repeatedly prompting me to use a pin to log in instead of my password.

both lappies here have recently updated -- I dunno if it was the big one, though... didn't take too long (even on the older lappie) & it was also generally nontraumatic. My mic mute is working again :p

I sprouted a new thing -- "task view" -- down in the tray at the bottom of the display; it doesn't seem to do much of anything useful. For some reason, I am not surprised. ;)

I’ve never used Windows 7, but I use Windows 10 on my laptop and I really like the platform, I don’t know why it gets so much hate. Although like I said, I’ve never used Windo2s 7 so maybe in comparison it’s awful.
In other news... the hospital 20 minutes down the road from me is still using WINDOWS 95 for their system... talk about outdated

I also hate Windows 10. I still have Vista Ultimate on my desk top. I like it. Dont care that it was a flop.

Was just told by the IT guys at work all our Gov. Pc's are going to Windows 10. With all the other systems we use this should be entertaining!
