In Wall speakers worthy of music

verbverb Posts: 2,689
I know this may be an oxymoron, but the WAF in our living room dictates that I replace the POS MTX in wall speakers (installed by previous owner) with another set of in-wall speakers.

I'm currently pushing em with a Pioneer SX-N30 reciever, pre-amp capable (no amp as of yet), and a Polk PSWi225 wireless sub. I'm mainly streaming to it now with my iPhone, but will eventually hook up a CD transport. Needless to say this is somewhat lacking as compared to the rig the basement.

I'm looking at the Polk 265RT in the walls. I'll be able to build a box in between the 2X4's, seal it up, but not much more. Also looking to upgrade the sub.

The intent is for non-critical listening, more ambiance when friends are over, and ensure the WAF is intact.

Thoughts?

    John,

Take a look at Legacy's on wall speakers. Probably the closest you'll find to full range sound for an on wall, and simply gorgeous to look at. Not the cheapest though, but if I had your money, I'd burn mine. :)

Operation Polk 265RT underway! Arrived today, I was working from home. Now safely tucked away in a corner of the house. All quiet on the western front.

Now working on a strategy as to how I'm going to explain cutting bigger holes in the wall!

    Any advice?

So today, the Mrs went to work while I’m continuing to work on projects while on vacation.

Operation wall speakers is on! Hope to have everything buttoned up before she comes home!

I’ve had a pair of 265RT’s under the bed since April. Covert operation underway here guys.

The current POS MTX wall speakers were installed by the previous owner, and, they gotta go! More to come!
