XLR cables needed

Looking for a pair of balanced cables to connect my pre with my amp. Curious to see if there will be any difference than using RCA's. Not looking to spend more than a couple of hundred.

With my current setup I'd probably need 1 meter. What do you think Skip? Is it worth trying with the mediocre system I have?
