Speaker jumper cables

So is replacing the stock plates on my S60 speakers with jumpers worth it or can I just use the same speaker wire and cut sections and connect these wire to wire without spades on the back speaker posts. Is there any real advantage to doing this.

Hello @firsttimer generally the stock plates are inferior than jumpers you can buy from a lot of audio cable sellers. Lots of choices out there. I would research the many threads in CP on speaker cables. Lot's of voices on that subject.

I would venture to say that if you're just replacing the stock plates with generic speaker wire (depending on what kind of wire you're currently running) - not much if any benefit.

Again if you go down the cable rabbit hole, as I have done recently, plenty of choices with folks claiming many benefits.

I just swapped out my home brew cables (10ga wire, soldered ends, bannans jacks) with a set of MITAvt's bought here on CP and immediately noticed an improvement. Most notably the bass response. I am now a cable believer!

Good copper wire is a much better jumper than the gold plated brass jumpers most manufacturers use. Try the wire and if you notice an improvement, then you might want to get yourself a set of jumpers. We can fix you up if you decide to go that way. :)

I usually use bare (no terminal) speaker wire. When I have speakers with bi-wire connections I approximate the length, add 1/2 inch, cut the sleeve, slide it up and leave enough for the other terminal. Use that space of bare wire to wrap around the other terminal.

Ebay has a set of WireWorld Oasis jumpers right now for 75 bucks. I've run the Oasis IC cables in my rig. A decent upgrade IMO.

YUP!! If you back out the red & black of the BPs, you’ll see a hole. A 6” piece 12 or 14 ga will do it. That’s all I did.

Well thanks for all your input I just put in a pair of audioquest silver jumpers. I must say there is a definite difference in sound quality I think bottom end and top end is more defined than before. Even midrange if that is possible. Time for a speaker wire up grade I see could be in my future lol if the jumpers did that can only imagine what a good set of audio quest speaker wires will do.

And I have sold several items here and on audiogon that went up north. Lots of folks here would be willing to ship at cost, and many cables you might find here can fit in a medium size USPS priority box...

Also those AQ jumpers, they just feed the mids & tweets, connected by the lower speaker BPs? In others words the existing wire between the woofers and the amp or AVR?
