    Freeport Convention cover? Love it!
  • They kicked off their tour last year here in Columbus, OH. They were @ the best record store here in Columbus Spoonful Records, signing autographs the day of the show, and of course I could not make it to either.

Kingdom Come was great, but where are they today?? Yep, not doing what these guys are doing, the point of this thread was not to compare but to see some talent coming from these young lads, and they are getting it right.. IMO of course...

Apparently their August show here is sold out.

GVF was on the Tonight Show last night. The audience gave them a standing O.

They are talented. Check out the Coachella performance on Youtube They can bring it. I just hope they eventually grow out of the Zeppelin copying. It's great to pay tribute and incorporate that into your music. But some stuff is dead lifted and it's going to get old eventually.

So far, I have been impressed with their live playing abilities, they aren't just going through the Page and Plant motions, they have rock solid talent and ability. They are young, they've gotten peoples attention, it's time to start moving away from the Zep copy and do your own thing while still weaving and paying tribute to Zep, but with your own distinctive finger print.

I’m with you, re: “child of...”. Withholding judgement until I can see them live (not likely soon as tix are $200+), but the singer’s raised limp wrist on Fallon leaves me with the impression that he’s more of a Plant impersonator than something really new. Nice grooves from the other three, though.

When I listen to them on the stereo I could care less how they look and act. Their sound is the only thing I am interested in.

I immediately liked every song on From The Fires. But to be honest, I didn't like the song they played on The Tonight Show at all. I didn't care for the new perm he was sporting either.

He copies many of Plant's moves and mannerisms. Just like Prince and Michael Jackson copied many of James Brown's moves. Both being extremely talented on their own, you could see the heavy influence. Nothing wrong with that at all, just make it your own while paying tribute, etc., etc.,

Comparison to LZ from day one was going be a given, if they continue to so closely align themselves with the music and moves and trying to get the mystic of LZ they will be a f art in the wind eventually.

No one then or now compares to LZ and when the masses grow weary of the popular, yet slightly mundane imitation they will fall. Eventually you need to make it your own. History has not been kind to bands that try and imitate Led Zeppelin, because they all pale in comparison to the real thing.

All that being said, at this point I enjoy them a lot and it's nice to hear good, solid, rock and roll music again, especially from musicians so young and obviously talented. But eventually they're going to have make their own mark or they will become a bit of a parody and their musical relevance won't last.

P.s. Listen/watch the Coachella video, during the free jam, they are doing the Page/Plant call and response thing. It's a great jam with a great groove, but I cringed a little when they started the call/response thing..............just a little.

P.s.s. I just realized there are a LOT of videos from Coachella. This was a pro-shot, I'll see if I can pot a link.
