RIP PS3...hello OPPO UDP203

After a bit over 9 years as my Blu Ray player, my trusty PS3 finally succumbed to old age and retired. You served me well dear PS3!

Last night, I welcomed the OPPO UDP203 and I have to say...what the heck took me so long! Quite a noticeable difference over that PS3. Picture quality is outstanding on my circa late 2008 Panny Plasma.

The OPPO is a winner!
No excuses!

I just bought an Oppo 205 to replace my 2013 Panasonic Blu-Ray which just died. I have it hooked to my 2010 Panasonic plasma.

I rearranged my gear and needed to break out my 8-foot-long HDMI to hook it up. The menu pages looked beautiful but I was VERY disappointed with the picture quality from Blu-Rays. After trying to tweak the video settings, I decided to streeeetch a 6-foot HDMI cable into place. Suddenly it looked AMAZING! :p

Night and Day difference I bet, enjoy your new OPPO. The PS4 Pro does a admirable job, but the OPPO is a better choice.

  • I'm having audio drop outs on Atmos tracks with my old Sony player and need to upgrade but I've been hesitant cause I wasn't sure how the UHD players would preform with an older 1080p display. Glad to hear yours is preforming well!

I just got an UDP-203 a couple of weeks ago. Pretty slick machine. Amazing picture and sound quality. I have it hooked up to a LG 43" 4K tv and a Marantz SR6011 receiver and if yours performs similar to the one I have, I'm sure you'll be impressed. Enjoy.
