Thinking about the 900-LS or 700-LS but is it worth all the work and $$$$ Let alone cutting a hole in the ceiling...

I also thought about hanging my LSiM 703's above my 707's...

Thoughts???

I have 900-LS speakers for Atmos and enjoy them. The house I purchased already had cheap in ceiling speakers so I just upgraded them. They are not ideally located but they definitely add to the dimensionality of the sound. At some point I need to run better cable to them to replace the builder spec stuff.

I don't think hanging 703's above the 707's would achieve the same results. They would be more like adding height speakers where Atmos speakers are supposed to be either firing down or reflecting off the ceiling. I am sure the 703 height speakers would add to the experience but it may not be ideal.

The cutting a hole in the ceiling isn't a big deal breaker as long as you have access to run speaker cable to them without tearing apart your walls.

If I were starting over and didn't have large holes already in my ceiling I think 700-LS would be more than adequate for Atmos duty. Most of the sound directed to those channels is greater than 100hz so you don't need a speaker that digs into the lower frequency range.

This is all just my $0.02 based on my experience and the limited research I have done.

    Good luck!

I run 2-700LS in the MB LSI system and 4-70RT's in the main room rig. Both are great speakers for Atmos and Surround duty.
Make sure you have room they are deep. I have seen issues with fitting them on a 2 story home with shallow ceilings.

    Love the magnetic grills too.

I am pretty pleased with 4 50RTs for surround duty as well. Even these small ones were rather deep and barely fit in my basement ceiling
