Hdmi or analog input?

I have a Yamaha rx v665 (and no, I’m not running my lsi speakers on it) and I was wondering, would I get better quality if I use an hdmi input to play my music or a analog input? My source is my iPad mini 3, with no external DAC. So, really my question is, is the DAC in my amp better than the one in my tablet?
