Installing Polk RC80I ceiling speakers

I have recently purchased these speakers for installation in a newly constructed home. We had the builder prewire the house for ceiling speaker installation. The builder placed junction boxes with covers at the speaker locations in order to pass the city inspection. The junction boxes are located next to studs in the ceiling. Your installation instructions say to allow at least 1 inch clearance from internal studs. If I move the cut out that far the outer flange on the speaker will not completely cover the existing opening made for the junction boxes. Is it a problem if I place the speaker against the stud.

The reason for the 1" distance away from the studs is to allow the installation dogs sufficient room to swing around when you tighten the mounting screws.
