New Desk Re Rig

Bought a new desk... My old one was not for the room it was in and I have been Jonsin' for this desk for a while. Snagged it at a half price sale.

I want a cleaner less cluttered look (for now)

Decided I would go with just 1 27" curved monitor and I everything that doesn't have to be on the desk top on the lower shelves.

I put a UPS on each side in the rear and utilized this J channel wire mgmt stuff.

Dell dtop computer with 4TB external hard drive is on lower left. On the lower right is my 4TB cloud storage device a n 8 port switch and a Peactree 125SE integrated.

On the desktop I have Audioengine P4 speakers, Amazon echo dot Bluesound Node and a Cisco Phone...

I put one of my leftover Polk MP 2k subs midwall.

Had to order a couple of right sized power cables but all in I am really likin' it... The little speakers with the Peachtree sound pretty frikkin' awesome for a desktop rig.

Continuing with this lil project, I decided to add a little more tone to the office for those times you want a little more sweetness than a pair of desktop speakers can bring. I bought the little Yaqin tube amp out of the closet and rigged it with a pair of getem cheap Focal Aria 905 bookshelf speakers that I put on a set of stands that were laying around. I've heard some good things about Focal and decided WTF you can always send them back. So far getting the drivers to break in a bit but overall like the warmth the little 2 ways can deliver. I don't think I would have paid a G for these but at half that they seem priced right. Interesting driver config with an inverted tweeter and driver material made of flax. There is a leather front face wood sides and glass top. I guess they tried to use as many different materials as they could. But overall nice build quality and sound quality with nice warmth that mates well with tubes even at low to mid volume levels. The Focals are overall superior in SQ to the Audioengine P4's. I switched the Yaqin to Triode mode and it really gave them their best tonal quality.

I have some decent amp and speaker switching devices so I might rig the whole room to be able to switch between amp and speaker options. Then I will make sure I label it all too cause I can confuse ma seff!

Nice! I've never seen a pair of Focals that I didn't think was beautiful, and these are no exception. I recognize that Yaqin. I think it's the step up from mine. And on a non-audio note: I LOVE THAT DESK!!! :p

Love your set ups also. Well done. The back lit or bottom lit palms and ficus style plants give a great ambiance to the corners. Feng Shui designs always work ! Great for working and relaxing at the same time.

Hung some of instruments and put the speakers on 24" stands. 28" stands are probably needed and will grab a set.

Nice! Yeah, I noticed the CBS headstock and was going to ask. I have a '73 in TV Yellow that spends more time in its case than played. Also have a custom shop '56 reissue and a few others. But, my favorite player Strat is a 2001 American Standard.

Sorry to hear about your nerve damage. I'm old enough that I'm fighting some arthritis in my finger joints, but I still try to play at least an hour a day. Keeps the cobwebs out of my mind. :)

Yup... I have another Ovation 6 string Balladeer in the closet too. Must be like close to 40 years old. Ovations will last for a 100 years just as long as you don't leave them outside too much... Going to set up an a/b between the 2 amps so I can have my clean/crunch/distortion on the Boogie and use that little Peavey's modeling modes.

Being a guitar repairman for 35 years and a stereo freak for even more, I have to say, I like the look of the man cave above !
As far as arthritis goes, I was suffering from trigger finger this summer, where my left index finger would lock up in the morning and I'd have to snap it back straight. (ouch)
I tried this mixture of hemp & coconut oil that my friend's daughter makes after he recomended it.
After a week of massaging it into my palm, at the base of the afflicted finger, it got rid of my problem.

I currently have a friend building me an exact copy of Mearle Travis's 1949 Bigsby guitar.
There's a guy named TK Smith (google him) that machines billet aluminum repros of Paul Bigsby's original pickups.......and they only cost 650 bucks a pair ! (heh heh)
The build's coming along nicely and I'm chomping on the bit to play some surf tines on it.
Here's a couple mock up pics........
