    @F1nut,

You probably already know this, but the origin of the definition of "political correctness" you use in your signature is a telegram from President Harry S. Truman to Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester Nimitz in an interchange between them just before the Japanese signed the unconditional surrender that ended the war with Japan:

    "Washington, D C
    2120-September 1, 1945
    To: D A MacArthur /C H Nimitz
    From: H S Truman

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of $hit by the clean end!"

Someone asked me today while we were talking shop about audio if Matt Polk was "real" or just some staged guy in a lab coat. I had to chuckle at that one....

I explained to him that he was a real guy and that the photos he saw back in the day were actually him. LOL

    de gustibus non est disputandum.
I thought it was a joke (Photoshop) the first time I saw it -- but it's real.
It's not ridiculous, I suppose, except for the completely pointless (except for the obvious bragging rights) speed indicator. It's not a meter per se, just a thing to show what speed is selected in as ostentatious a way as possible.

EDIT: Just my opinions (my gustibus, if you will), of course! :)

I don't know exactly why, but I love the look of Mac gear. I use to hate it when I was younger. I liked the sleek, rounded modern look on electronics. Today I appreciate the look of Mac for what it represents. Mostly solid and built like a tank. That's got it's won appeal to me. If it wasn't $4500, like everything else starts out with McIntosh, I'd buy one.

Yea it could be considered gaudy i guess but there is just something about mac stuff i find attractive. Mac stuff has meters and they incorporated it to look like other Mac gear.

That Denon is pretty cool as well it just doesn't jump out and grab you by the sack

But pretty funny they put a meter on it just to show the speed :)

I'm still curious about that Pioneer since I read some stuff about the RumbleFish number being a mistake.

Regrettably, I must retract the above post.

Apparently, this purported exchange between Truman and MacArthur is just one more hoax perpetrated over the Internet on unsuspecting, gullible, willing believers like myself.

Please forgive my folly, and thanks to @msg for cluing me in about this hoax! :)
