McIntosh MVP871 "universal" player does Not do BluRay . . . should I buy it?

its local and he's firm at $1,200, good price, me thinks, albeit 10+ years old

But I really would like a BluRay player. Should I get it and break out the Oppo when needed?

Its a lot of dough I'd want something that does BR as well. For that kind of money especially.

Why buy old technology when you can get something better. For that you can get a new Oppo 205 that plays UHD 4K, in addition to their best audio section.

Agreed with the others, way overpriced for the technology. Even the older top rated universals like Lexicon can be had for a few hundies. Sounds to me like the seller is just trying to capitalize on the brand name.
