Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm good on money, so I don't really need to save. I'm still in research mode, so I can wait for a sale to pop up, just have to avoid the itch to buy now. The other day I had her play some tunes to see how much improved the sound was over our sound bar, after about an hour of taking turns back and forth she had a queue of about 10 songs she wanted to hear. I think we're going to be okay! Hahaha!

I probably should have posted the specs of my room. I'm in a carpeted 18 x 25 x 9. Large opening to the dining room and another opening to the entryway, with the couch between to two. I've decided on sealed, for music purposes. I know ported would still be good, but I need to cut some of my options out so I don't go too crazy. So much information to absorb with buying subs!

Keep an eye on the SVS outlet store...

Yeah, I looked at the SB12, and just about have my heart set on it. I was actually looking at SB-1000, and then saw that. Sucks I missed the SVS clearance last year, would have been nice to get the Bill of Rights with it. Buying from a 3rd party is the only thing stopping me. My new budget bumped up to $500, so I'll be looking a bit more. Does HSU ever have sales? The VTF-2 MK5 is a possibility.

The SB12 from Amazon is not bad, you would at least get the Amazon warranty.

The VTF2-MK5 is a very nice sub, my older MK3 is still going strong after all these years. I am going to replacing it soon with a VTF3-MK5.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

All I can say is, both my SB2000 and SB12-NSD are better subwoofers than my old Veloydyne SPL1000's.

The Velodyne SPL's were twice the price and had constant problems with the amps...

I'll stick with SVS for now. B)

I went with the sb12-nsd. If I need to go big later or add another I can after I spend some time with it. Thanks again for all the help, I appreciate you guys! I'll let you know how it goes.

That should pickup your low end nicely. Please let us know what you think once it's all hooked up.

I've had a listen to a few SVS subs and can't go wrong with them. If I had the space for two subs I would run a pair of those. For now I will stick with a single HSU.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see no high level connections on any of the SVS subs.

You are right. That's so strange. My SB1000 had them, I know this because I used them at one point.

Many SVS subs have a switch to change the connections from high to low level connections. You have to check the owners manual for that info.

I think he means speaker terminals. And in that case I've only had them on two of the six svs subs I've owned, and that was the SB1000's.
