RTA-15TL Speakers

Options
I was given a pair of these and told that 1 of the tweeters was bad.

I took them home and hooked them up and both tweeters were not emitting any sound.

I pulled the tweeters and sure enough 1 was bad but the other showed 6.7 ohms on the meter.

I checked the fuses in both speakers and they appear to be good. I installed the tweeter that read good in both of the cabinets and still have no sound from it.

Even though the tweeter reads good and the fuses look to be good is there a problem with both of the xovers? What else could be going on?

Need help.

Tom

Try connecting the leads from your AVR/integrated/amp/whatever directly to the tweeters in question. If you have tone controls turn the bass all the way down and only play them at a very low volume, see if they make any noise.

Thank you, I will try that. You are sure it will not cause any damage even with bass turned all the way down?

Yeah, it'll be fine as long as you don't crank the volume or play them for an extended period of time. Just loud and long enough to see if they work.
