Brother-in law another surgery.

Options
Back in 2015 my brother in law Chuck had brain surgery, it went well, he healed just fine.
THANKS for the prayers then.

However, this Thursday he's going back under the knife with a major surgery called the "wipple" procedure. This is a hardcore surgery.

So if you folks could remember him on Thursday, that would be great.

THANKS ALL

David

Prayers for your BIL, David. After reading a bit on the Whipple procedure, it would appear that the mere fact that he is eligible to undergo that procedure is good news in and of itself.
Wish him a speedy and full recovery.

    Thanks Thanks Thanks all.

He made it through surgery ok and the Doc said they think they got it all....So hopefully NO chemo or radiation...PHEW!!!

However, his blood pressure is very high so they moved him from the ICU to the critical ICU unit as they suspect he's in a lot of pain.

    Now begins the healing.

    Once again THANKS ....

    Best of luck man...

I've been in a few Whipple procedures... Longest surgeries ever. I remember standing there for 8 hours straight.

Couldn't even pee cuz the whole thing is just so intense. It's a brutally difficult procedure.

Sounds like you had a good surgeon, I wish your brother in law the best.

    I can't imagine the process.
The surgical team looked completely wiped out. Kuddos to them!!
Just a tad shy of 8 hours they spent on him.
So far so good, blood pressure gets better then raises but he is a tough guy and we got faith...

I told him prior to surgery that after he gets better I'm taking some pics of the scars and posting them here cause you know this place always says pics or it didn't happen... :p

    Exactly.

Wiped out is the best term.

If anyone doubts the resolve of a medical doctor... You have never done a Whipple.

Chuck is much more awake this morning, blood pressure is improving to a more stable level and although he's hurting quite a bit, the nurses just told him today "wasn't to license to sleep, gotta get up and get moving".

Doctors feel confident they got all the cancer out of his pancreas.
Once healed and released, If the pep scan later confirms this.
He will be considered cancer free.

Thank you Lord, Thank you Doctors & Thank you Polkies for all you prayers and thoughts. ROCK N ROLL!!!!!

Ole Chuck now has had most tubes removed, is drinking water, digestive tract is working. Only using the push button pain delivery slightly.

Been up walking down the halls. STILL not a happy camper but the Doc said if he continues improving he will be heading home this Friday.
