    Thanks Joey. Actually, HT is what got me back into listening to music. At the beginning of the century (I love saying that), I was really into HT, and went through a lot of AVRs, DVD players, and speakers over the years. I slacked off the last few years, but I suspect with 4K I will be getting back into it.

    BR sure does, and for someone used to 1080i, so does 1080P. However, I will get the movies and the new 4K Oppo when it is out.

    I just readjusted the speaker distances and speaker level calibration. So I am ready to go tonight. Somehow over the years I had swapped the left and right front channels. LOL.

    The TV is in an 11' x 12' room. The couch is on the 11' wide part, and I tried getting as far left and right as I could to view the picture, and it looked fine to me at each extreme.

    The January 2017 issue of Sound & Vision arrived today, and they reviewed the 65" version of this TV. The factory settings are very close to ISF calibration, but they can be set perfect. The review is very positive. They just love it, and so do I.

    It is always nice to read a great review of gear one has already bought. The same thing happened with my Cambridge Audio 840W amps.

    Well after a week I found I needed to make another kludge tweak to maximize my enjoyment of the new TV. It turns out the Aerial Acoustics 7T speakers on either side of the TV have such nice shiny cabinets that they light up like beacons on either side of the TV. Once I realized that I found I fixated on it. My temporary fix is drape black towels down the side of the speaker. That is because I do not know where to get black paint.

    That's why I went with a matte finish on my Salk's. Jim Salk makes beautiful finishes and I purchase matte black. Go figure. :'(

    I like the cardboard idea and it will match the amps in the other room. Can you cut the front section out of boxes they were shipped in and place them over the top of them...LOL B)

    All kidding aside, I used the towels to tune the acoustics to the new room response from a 'skinny' TV. Cardboard on the side tended to blur the mids. :)

    Black paint can be had at any Lowe's or Home Depot. Better option would be to find what type of veneer they have on the speakers and go to Rockler, they know what they are doing and will have a fix that would look good.

    I would still love to build an all in one cabinet for all your goodies...

    It's funny you mentioning the "skinny" TV and room response. When I had my old set-up with the rear projection and huge wall entertainment center I noticed a slight echo at two points on two of my favorite songs. It bugged me a little bit but I thought room acoustics what else can I do. Fast forward to the new "skinny" TV and A/V cabinet, the echo is gone. Plus, Plus on my books.

    Not sure how much of this is serious but another non-permanent option would be to get matte black vinyl that they use to wrap car/parts and apply it. That way it could be reversed although you may have to deal with removing some adhesive.
