Best Burning/Mixing Software

Please help me with a recommendation. I have little to no experience burning CDs so keep that in mind. I want to mix and burn music from a handful of CDs to create a few hours of music for a party. I'm looking for free downloadable software. My research looks like the best software for this is "AUDACITY" from Audacityteam.org. "Freeaudioeditor" and "Ultramixer" may also be good choices. Thank in advance to everyone's recommendations.
