Just curious. What process does a retailer have to go through to carry certain brands ?

It's very difficult PITA for a lot of the respected well known gear. Most are based on regions, possible exclusive deals already in play, minimum orders, and you practically have to beg....and/or all of the above.

Glad there is another x1 in the family. I see no need to replace mine. For the money I believe them to be the best preamp for the buck on the used market. I would not be surprised to see prices trend higher at some point, because these are a CLASSIC!

I am totally happy with this new combination. The amp has plenty of power which blows me away. The pass X1 pre is exactly what I was hoping for. I want to thank John for the lead into this X1. Paired with the pass amp is a great combination and pass customer service is second to none.

And the amp is what really surprises me. For the rated output it is such a great performer. This amp can really rock and roll and have a very good punch. I am very impressed with the XA 30.5 amp for sure.

Updates on the X1 ? I believe he may have sold it already. He's gone through 3 pre amps since, the Joule 150, Joule 300, and Cary SLP-05.

I did sell the x1 after hearing the Joule. And the winner so far is the Joule 300 followed closely by the slp05. I will keep both pre's along with the pass xa for summer use and the Joule vzn for winter use. Lucky we live in the great northwest so our temps are never very warm and my room is in the basement. Can't beat the tubes for sound but the ss is easier to use. Both sound great too.

That's always been my assessment of most tube amps of that caliber. If you can put up with their finicky ways, that tube sound is hard to beat. Pass being one of the SS amps I would say come darn close though.

You have some great stuff in house Bob, any considerations on moving up the speaker ladder ?

Happy with the speakers right now. I just added the aries mini and that sounds so good fed through the cary dac. Super impressed with the mini so far.

I contacted the seller on that Ebay posting about the tubes it used, asking if it had the Russian tubes in it. Was told it was packed up, but, they didn't "think" it had Russian tubes. They failed to respond to any further post after that, so, I didn't bid. What's it end up selling for?

Anyone have direct comparison experience between the 100 and 150? I spoke with Rich at Sig Sound and he said the 150 wasn't as "lush" as the 100 due mainly to the Russian tubes.
