TriangleArt Reference SE prototype in the house!

After much soul searching and having both arms tied behind my back until I screamed UNCLE!!!!, I bit the bullet and brought the 300 pound beast home.... More to follow as I work some magic on it and bring her to life, but for now, a few pictures will do. Many thanks and deep gratitude goes out to those that let go of my arms before they snapped.29lv1r53uqtw.jpg

Blacker? I don't know how that would be possible given the inherent surface noise of vinyl.

I dont know either Jesse, all I can go by is what I have been told. It has to do with mass I guess, and with all the mass this table has, it is impervious to anything but an earthquake.

    Nice upgrade!

Did you still want to stay linear? A couple of budget air bearing linear arms that punch way, way above their price point are the Advanced Analog MG-1

    http://adanalog.com/index.php?Itemid=30&id=27&option=com_content&task=view

    and the Trans-Fi Terminator.

    http://www.trans-fi.com/terminatortonearm.htm

Yes, crude looking compared to high dollar Rockports and the like, but you need some deep pockets for them beautifully sculpted high dollar arms. They arms linked above don't need much of an air compressor. I mounted mine in the basement and ran a line through pushlock connector in wall. Very professional looking and wife friendly.

The table is certainly worthy of a great arm, but I also know sometimes we can't swing it all at one time.

Some other pivoted arms that punch above their cost are audiomods, Rega arms on steroids. diy or buy complete arms.

    http://www.audiomods.co.uk/

    s5-4-500.jpg

And Origin Live. They have quite a few entry to higher level arms.

One of them would get you by while Frank builds you one..

I've had good luck buying used arms on Audiogon. Used can get you higher up the food chain. I really miss the 12" Moerch DP6. The kewl thing about Moerch was you could buy a tonearm for any cartridge compliance made. Remove one thumb screw and you can mount a different arm/cartridge.

That's a great choice, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

If you are looking for a good dealer that handles the line, contact Jay at Audio Revelation. Either through Audiogon..

    or his web site.

    http://audiorevelation.com/

I've purchased quite a few things through him at reasonable prices. Turntable, arms, cartridge, Nottingham speed controller. Very knowledgeable and friendly fellow.

You'll have to see what armboards they supply, or make your own. At first I thought the armboard base was articulated. That is 'swing' it until you arrive at the specified center of spindle to center of arm pivot distance for the arm you are using, then tighten it. That dimension needs to be spot on for correct overhang and cartridge alignment.

Origin Live 9" arms would be 222mm, while the 12" is 295.6mm. Make armboards or bases out of a hardwood or aluminum.

The table you have is well worth the learnin!

As I went through different tables and arms, I eventually invested in a first design Feickert protractor. It made setting/marking center to center easier than eyeballing dimensions through a clear ruler. Armboards are at a different height than platter so eyeballing can net you some errors.

But for a one time thing, you can make a precise c to c tool rather than buy one. And now you have a one time table.

I believe I have struck a deal for this arm...
    https://www.audiogon.com/listings/tonearms-origin-live-mk3c-conqueror-2016-02-03-analog-92024-encinitas-ca

It is well reviewed and seems like a good fit performance-wise. I don't see myself having the budget to have multiple arms around to experiment with so I am putting all my eggs in one basket on this one.
