Lsi7 damaged in shipping - can they be fixed?

Options
I just received a pair of Lsi7's. And.... One of them was damaged in shipping :(

It looks like the screws completely ripped out of the plastic faceplate that holds the tweeter. Does anyone know if I can easily repair these? I saw a parts sticky thread at the top of this subforum, but it looks to be mostly capacitors and other electrical components.

I'm posting this from my phone. I'll follow-up with pictures once I get to my computer. Thanks to anyone that can provide help!

That could work, especially if I keep the grill on.

Does anyone know if I can order a new face-plate for the tweeter?

Put washers on both tweeters, make them look "stock". B)

Polk CS can undoubtedly answer the face plate question. Contact info

If the back of the plastic faceplate is making contact with the outer ring of the magnet assembly, I'd be inclined to glue it in place. Dry fit the parts, and see if everything fits back together. If they do, some heavy bodied cyanoacrylate or epoxy would probably work. I wouldn't use a solvent based glue, as it may melt the plastic parts.

The problem is that those tweets r expensive, and could ruin whatever deal be got. Hopefully shipping insurance kicks in and then he can buy a new tweet.

The tweeter looks to be undamaged. I'm considering epoxy or abs cement to try and fix it. It was a clean break on all the mounting points of the plastic faceplate.

The seller has started a claim with USPS, and has asked me to keep all damaged components and shipping materials intact. We'll see if USPS comes through with insurance coverage.

I'll also call Polk CS, as recommended earlier in this thread, to see what a new mount/faceplate costs.

So...the weight of the tweeter was enough to rip it from it's mounting holes when the impact happened? I'd be looking close for other structural damage to the cabinets, drivers, crossover boards etc...

I'd be filing a claim right away. With UPS (though the shipper probably has to) and with PayPal if the seller doesn't get right on helping you to get it paid for.

In my experience dealing with UPS, Paypal/Ebay claims they've always been very all or nothing, don't go for repair prices, go for total loss of product. Simply say the item was damaged during shipping and provide the pictures.

Thank you for the tip. I think the seller filed for the full value of what I paid. I'll double check to ensure that now.

In my experience dealing with UPS

It was the USPS, not UPS. They handle claims very differently.

Aaahh, read that too fast. Have never dealt with USPS claims.

But PayPal, don't wait to initiate a claim if things go sour.

Problem solved. Seller is paying for return shipping and is going to give a full refund.

I also went ahead and picked up some LsiFX's instead of getting another pair of Lsi7's.
