Better get it done now while she's still a girlfriend. Things change when she becomes the wife.

Dude, when I got married I was into cars and car audio...among other costly hobbies. The first week back from our honeymoon I spent $100 to get my then Corrado G60 detailed. The Ms. was not happy at all about it. I got her to take a picture with the car, but her face tells the story: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/WLDock/Car Audio/VW Corrado G60/1969292_10203760816484181_1876933003_n.jpg

So what ever you do, get as much done NOW as possible. Your spending will be watched much much closer when you tie the knot.

No she does not look happy at all. Love the corrado. Here's a pic of mine, the girlfriend is already asking about the garage spot!

My father is looking for new speakers in the living room. He is strongly considering a set of Totem Forest.

Have to make sure he checks these out at this price. The Aria line was a strong contender for him before he picked up his Arro's. He might not be able to say no at these prices...

I figured this might be the place to ask this without starting a new thread.

How would the Focal Aria 926 compare to my current LSi15 speakers that have Vr3 Fortress crossovers and DB Woofer upgrade. I have been thinking about trying something else. There is a used set of 926's listed nearby for $1260 which seems like a good price.

One concern I have is my current speaker cables are bi-wired but I was thinking I could swap one set of BFA's for spades and hook both up to the binding posts.

    Any thoughts?

The Focal should be a considerable upgrade over the LSi. However, it will have a very different Signature to it that you may or may not like.

    @DSkip
From what I have read the Focal Sound is often classified as bright. Before purchasing them I will definitely give them a listen but it will unfortunately not be with my gear. I will ask the seller why gear they have so I can get an idea of what to expect.

A new prospect just popped up but they are way more money and I am not sure if my gear would do them justice. Revel Performa3 F208 $$$!!!!

I went from fortress modded lsi15 with the DB woofer mod to the Aria 926,I also had lsim705's in the house. The Aria crushed them in every aspect. The Aria is not bright, in fact it is the warmest speaker in focals line up. For 1260$ they are a steal. I use mine in my home theater and they are the best All around speaker I've had for the money. The 926 with gloss black finish retailed for almost 4000 bucks.

None of focals speakers are bi-wireable, they believe that you don't gain any sonic performance by doing so. In my opinion I would jump on them if you can, and thank me later.

Thanks for the feedback. I knew you had experience with both and was hoping you would reply. The ones I am looking at are the walnut finish that is kind of cheesy but for the price i can overlook it. I know the Focal's are not bi-wireable. My plan was to temporarily connect both hi/low cable ends to the single set of binding posts until I can source another set of cables.

The only thing is the Focal speakers are a 200 mile drive away. There is also a pair of Revel Performa3 208s that are local but for over 2 times the price of the Focals.

A friend of mine has revels, performs F52's I believe, I like them a lot. But they don't come close to the 3D soundstage that focals produce. The walnut doesn't look as bad as you would think, they have a flawless build. My center is walnut, the rest of my system is gloss black, I actually like the walnut, it matches my Audio rack. I got it open box for 200 cheaper than retail so I jumped on it.

IME, the Focal's are not bright until you tax the speaker for everything it's worth. They do offer a more forward presentation than most. At reasonable levels, I would not consider them to be bright at all.

Another misconception due to focals high sensitivity, is they are easy to drive and can run off smaller amplifiers. For example the electras dip in Down to 1.8 ohms, which when cranked without adequate power can become harsh. They love power, and high damping factor. Which in my experience prevent compression, and brightness.

    GREAT point here!

A lot of people fall into the same trap with Totem Acoustic speakers.

The Arro's in particular. They look like small easy to drive speakers, but they LOVE power and a high dampening factor as well.

Just goes to show that you need to match your equipment with your speakers.
