Speaker Cabinet Face Repair

Picked up a pair of RT5's for a few bucks but one of the cabinets looks like a dog chewed on the bottom front. What is the best way to repair this damage- some Bondo and spray paint? What is the stuff Polk used for the cabinet faces? Can it be easily sourced and used for repairs?

Doesn't look horrible in the pic. Can you hit it with a sharpie?

it's actually gouged out- could use some filler to even it out with the rest of the surface

It appears to be a vinyl coating. Guys that repair car interiors should be able to fix that, but it'll cost more than the speakers are worth.

Ok, you can try using Bondo or wood epoxy for the filler. Do not use wood filler. You'd be better off cleaning up the jagged tears. Use a razor blade or the like to cut away the jagged stuff leaving nice straight cut lines. Fill the area and sand flush. There are various textured spray paints available, which should help hide the repair. Keep in mind that there are a thousand shades of black, so an exact color match will be difficult.

Forgot to mention, when using the filler and sanding be sure to tape off the surrounding area as to do as little damage to the vinyl as possible

Those are colored wax sticks, not really what you need.

This worked pretty good on the vinyl armrest of an old car. I got it at Walmart. I'm sure auto parts have it too.
