things to do while visiting Fort Lee Virginia Army Base for sons graduation

1. see ocean just wish it would be June instead of December It will be my first ocean.
2. pound down tons of oysters on the 1/2 shell
3. more seafood
4. running out of ideas here is where I'll need some help

Hey Pitdogg - I regret to inform, you're not all that close to the actual ocean in Ft. Lee. Close enough to drive, but really it's on the James River inlet off the Chesapeake Bay. That being said, you're not too far driving from:
1. Hampton, VA - popular summer beach retreat
2. Virginia Beach, VA - **see above - the boardwalk is popular
4. Jamestown, VA - history site obviously
5. Williamsburg, VA - **see above but the better of the two
7. Norfolk, VA - which is pretty cool, often aircraft carriers can be seen here as well as the USS Wisconsin if you find such things interesting as I do.
8. If you venture to Norfolk, make sure you stop at Doumar's. Cheap food, cool history, fun and the inventor of the ice cream cone - you go for the cones!

9. Several good breweries O'connor comes to mind.

It's been a long time since I was there, but I'd suggest considering a visit to the Petersburg Battlefield National Park in... umm... Petersburg.
