I recently purchased this set up and I am very pleased. If you desire new and want more than your monies worth, this is it. It drives my SDA-2B's with ease and the sound quality is very nice. Here is an article that I found with a pretty in depth evaluation. Just wanted to share my enthusiasm, plus I am bored...lol.

Plus it won't break the bank.

    Interesting.

I currently run the P5 with an older, but nice, Adcom 555 II. As I consider upgrading, the A23 and A21 are both on my short list.

Marantz (avr) SR6003 via the HT bypass, Marantz (cd player) CD6005, el cheapo turntable Audio Technica AT-LP60......which this is my next upgrade. Was not sure I wanted to get back into vinyl, so went cheap. Well, I am liking vinyl again after a 40 year absence.

So you utilize the P5 dac?

I've been looking at some integrated amps with some having only one digital input (usb), so in this scenario I assume an upstream dac would be necessary?

The P5 has a Burr-Brown dac and three different ways to connect. I use analog for the CD player.

I find it a bit lacking...

My M1SDAC from Musical Fidelity had a better headphone section. Detail is not as clear and not as good of separation. I feel like the headphone section in the P5 was a last minute throw in, ohhh yeah, it also has this!

It does it's job, but I'm also seriously considering a headphone amp.

P5/A23 combo is on my list for quite some time, acquired A23 a month ago and working on P5 currently. I would definitely like to test to see if it can replace my littledot headphone amp or Clearaudio nano phono pre.
