Joey, are you thinking sealed or ported?

    SB13 - 17.4" H x 17.4" W x 18.5" D = 3.24 cu ft
    PB13 - 22.5” H x 20.5” W x 28.0” D = 7.47 cu ft

    SB16 - 20.0" H x 19.5" W x 20.1" D = 4.54 cu ft
    PB16 - 25.0” H x 21.7” W x 30.9” D = 9.70 cu ft

    For comparison size reference:

    REL
    G2 (Sealed 10") - 16.4" H x 20.0" W x 24.0" D = 4.56 cu ft

    Power Sound Audio
    S1800 (Sealed 18") - 20.5" H x 20.0" W x 22.0 D = 5.22 cu ft

    JTR Speakers
    Captivator S1 - (Sealed 18") 21.0″ H x 21.0″ W x 18.0″ D = 4.59 cu ft
    Captivator 1400 (Ported 18") - 30.0″ H x 20.0″ H x 22.5″ D = 7.81 cu ft
    Captivator S2 (Dual sealed 18") - 40.0″ H x 21.0″ W x 18.0″ D = 8.75 cu ft

    Seaton Sound
    SubMersive HP (Dual opposed sealed 15") - 25.5" H x 24.25" W x 17.5" D = 6.26 cu ft
    SubMersive F18 (Sealed 18") - 23.5" H x 23.5" W x 17.5" D = 5.59 cu ft

    Deep Sea Sound
    Mariana 18S (Sealed 18") - 21.2" H x 21.2" W x 18.5" D = 4.81 cu ft
    Mariana 24SR (Sealed 24") - 28.0" H x 37.7" W x 21.3"D = 13.01 cu ft
    Mariana 24SC (Sealed 24") - 28.0" H x 28.0" W x 27.0"D = 12.25 cu ft

    Sealed.

I just saw rel now has g1mk2 and the super no25 sub.

At $5k+ list price I'm sure! At that price...you just have to want a REL. Many others that can more more air cleanly for less. There is a market for everything!

    WLD

What I'm most interested in is ease of blend between mains and subs for 2ch... Rel has speaker level input while the svs do not. I've been racking my brain to find direct comparisons of both inputs.

    Have you looked at rythmik?

    http://www.rythmikaudio.com/F15HP_features.html

You can get custom cabinets from Salk, for about $400 more.

I've read good things about the Rhthmik 15's, but doesn't the driver look puny compared to the SVS Ultra? I know not the greatest indicator but still.

Came home today and had a brand spankin new PB13- Ultra waiting for me in the garage. After carefully unpacking, I carefully loaded it onto a dolly and wheeled it in to the house. I placed it and after reading the QRG I fired that bad boy up.

    and WOW... Holy **** ;;;;

    Here are my initial impressions.

    1. This is a big MFER. I know they said it was big but wow this is big.
    2. Some SERIOUS BASS... I have only been sampling some movie stuff from Directv.. But it is some seriously deep well balanced BASS.
    3. Don't know why i bothered with my other subs.878o9e8j99hd.jpg

    mikey, will you adopt me,...please

I'll beam you up Scotty

If any of you is thinking about the SB16, go to BB and talk them down. Last night I did a special order for $1750. even with tax, it's still less than $2k. I know they're still making $ because the profit margin for audio stuffs is like 30-40%

If only there were any BBs around here that even carried them. The closest one to me is over 50 miles away, and the largest one they carry is the SB13.

So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Looks like SVS offering trade up program for customers that bought from them. 100 percent credit if bought ur sub within last year, 75 percent upto 2 years old, etc. Of course there is the part about paying shipping and subs need to be in like new condition.

I found out that shipping cost will depend on location but in my case it was going to be over $800 (my 2 subs shipped back and the 2 new ones shipped to me) in addition to the remainder due after trade-in allowance.

Debating whether to go to sb16 ultra instead of pb13 ultras. But mainly using for movies right now so pb13 probably better. Sb16 would be nice in opening up some space in the room and allowing for some accoustic treatment there. Shipping to and from Canada might be a deal breaker.

Does the dealer in Toronto not honour this trade up or could possibly help out?

Yup, it would be dual.sb16's. I really shudnt...probably no.benefit for.movies over current setup...but would look nicer...something about that cube shape. I bought off amazon, thus GTA dealer wouldn't be involved...might be worth a road trip to the states lol

I was waiting for someone to say this! I don't have a good ear, so.it wouldn't be a good review....plus I don't know how my credit card would like this. Joey_V on the other hand....

Supposedly the first batch is out being delivered so hopefully some reviews soon

Hmmm looking at the numbers might not be worth it for me to trade up...looks like it might be close to $850 per sub once all the shipping costs and prorated portion for mine are taken into account. We just might have to wait for Joey to get a set to be the first to review them!

Really serious question - speakon speaker level line in vs typical RCA/XLR line?
REL no 25 subwoofer uses speaker level inputs while the SB16U uses the typical RCA/XLR line inputs?
I am looking for barnone the best or close to the best reproduction of the lower frequencies.
Either way for me, I would need atleast 2.

Joey, when Jan 1's arrives I will be shocked if you don't order one sub from a few different manufactures and do a 30 - day comparison. You've been known to roll speakers in an out of your system. Plus, your quest not too long ago for four-six very expensive REL G2 subs. IMO, the REL's, high level ability or not, are too expensive for what you get. Some swear by them....I've heard a mixture of good and bad with the brand. The one bad system possibility had too little sub for the room and maybe needed a second or better placement?

Anyway, at your level and desire for a Piano Black finish, I can see one ordering a few subs like the REL(High Level Input Ability), the SB16, a Rythmik F15HP (High Level input ability), and maybe something like a Seaton Submersive. Plus, add in some room correction like a MiniDSP , DSPeaker-Anti-Mode, Dirac Live, etc. Then spend a month listening, tuning, and placing around the room. You can see for yourself if the REL is worth the money or if something like the Rythmik at about 1/4 of the price is as good or better or maybe the Seaton or SVS beats them all? Also, can test the High-Level input vs. Low Level input theory to see if you can hear a difference. Pick a winner, send the others back and order a second!

Strictly music system, line level. Two small, one from each main, would be better than one large.

    Just my opinion.

I problem solve for a living.... so...

    Step 1:
Pad the bank account, pay for the sub without anyone noticing.

    Step 2:
Ship the sub and have it arrive when no one is home.

    Step 3:
Buy beer. Phone a friend, help move it in place.

    Step 4:
Keep the stereo room dark so the black gloss REL G1 stays incognito.

    .....

    hahahahaha...

No but seriously... I have been told no items for purchase until Jan 1st 2017. If I cross the wife or break the pact, I am in a world of hurt.

So, this one was courtesy of my friend who is buying 4 REL G1s for his dedicated room. I was able to convince him to re-route his G1s to my place so I can test it out while his house is being built.

Think of it as a free lease on a G1.
