The Rock Hall's 2015 class includes the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Green Day, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and Bill Withers, all in the performer category." About damned time. Sometimes the R&R Hall of Fame makes me scratch my head when they induct some folks almost immediately after their death while SRV took forever relatively speaking.

I think you are correct 55LS70, I believe Rush referenced the Deep Purple absence when they were inducted. I get Joan Jett less than I get Green Day.

Joan loves R-n-R. Green Day will walk alone up to the podium.
Green Day have been saying what a game changing band for so
long I guess the folks over at the Rock Hall bought it.

75 million units sold so I'm in the minority. I stopped listening a LONG time
ago after a quote I heard. Kind of reminds me of how the Pixies are now put
up as this influential band. I remember buying the cassette of their big record
of the time. Listening to it once or twice and then tossing it in the trunk.
I'm sure Green Day means a lot to some and are of their time kind of thing...

I can't believe this. SRV is one of the greatest artists we'll ever see on stage. And I'm saying this from being a generation after him. How is Green Day, with one semi-relevant album in and RHCP not? I mean come on. As my track coach would say, 'this is a load of bunk.'

As someone who came of age during the first generation of punk (still the only real punk to me), and saw SRV live twice, after Texas Flood and again after Couldn't Stand the Weather, there is no doubt that he was long deserving of the honor.

Dskip's right though, it's generational and lots of great acts will await their turn, eventually making the hall when the time comes, h e l l , Ringo Starr solo before Deep Purple or Pearl Jam?

Yes it's about time for SRV.He pretty much single handedly brought back the real blues to the fore front.Clapton turned utterly commercial except for From the Cradle. I was listening to an I-Net radio station Big Radio Blues and B.B. King comes on and introduces the new blood SRV who then does I think The Sky is Crying w/ Albert King, B.B and his horns and Paul Butterfield. About Paul B I knew he passed young but I was shocked to find out he died at 44 in '87 a year after that jam. As for Joan Jett a great bar band but HOF material no if it's just 25 years of recording then for sure like others have said the Moody Blues, and Chicago who had such a greater impact on the music scene should be in there already. I think this is more than a subjective opinion.

Hey, the Moody Blues and YES have only been around, what......almost 25 years before Green Day. Let's not even get into the music writing/performing talent difference. But hey, it makes sense why Green Day is in and The Moody Blues and YES are not.........Considering the current state of The R&R HOF.

    F-'em!

Glad Stevie made it in though.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Guys I disagree, it's not about popularity or it shouldn't be on record sales but in the recording industry for over 25 years and the impact that particular group had on the music scene. I know Green Day was entertaining but are really around that long ? Yes also deserves the nod I did see them and were very polished musicians. I personally do not like Jon Anderson's voice but they were awesome in the Cow Palace when I saw them.
