Polk Monitor 7's with JVC R-S77 --> Very nice combo.

Options
I recently picked up this JVC R-S77 in very good condition.
All lights, LED's work as well as buttons.
A quick deOxit spray on balance and volume slider removed some scratchiness.

To my surprise, it sounds better than silver faced Pioneer I had (sx-780, sx-880).
I'm using them with Monitor 7's in my basement and they sound better than with other receivers.
A lot cleaner sound and bass impact is very strong and tight.
All controls in the receiver are set at 0/flat.
If you get a chance, grab that series of JVC.

Personally, I am not a big fan of any of the Pioneer SX-(*)*80 series, so no surprise there from my perspective.

As to the 7s, they sound great with almost anything -- I say almost on the strength of my one experience hooking a pair of 7As up to an EICO HF-81; there was some kind of 'anti-synergy' thing going on there (unexpected, needless to say) with the result of the 7s sounding unpleasantly thin and bright. Go figure...

That JVC is a real "sleeper" series. I run my Monitor 5As on the lower model R-S33 (only 40 watts x 2-but I can never get the volume slider above 1/3). Damn loud, but "good" loud.

I'm not a big fan of anything but the earlier Pioneers (X2X and X3X and the 1010). Those are the "warmest" and most musical Pioneers to my ears.

I have an SX-838 running some EPI 100Vs that are superb!

    Enjoy!

    So far really liking it.
I may have to decide between this and the Yammy CR-1020.
They Yammy is freakin heavy compared to the JVC even though wattage is not much different.
From my experience with CR-800, Yammy may sound little brighter than the JVC.
Will do a comparison when I get some free time.

Both are nice looking receivers. Does the JVC have wood sides ? Never seen one like that on JVC
