Improvements...

The folks at Vanilla have been able to widen the text area, but still avoid horizontal scrolling on smaller devices. Also the background has been made less brilliant. Let me know how it looks.

I think it made everyone's avatar all fuzzy.

Also, do you know if there is a specific reason the font color has not changed from red? Is it a Polk branding thing?

I appreciate the improvements that are slowly happening, but I think the red color is still at the top of most peoples hate list.

I just tried to change my avatar thinking the change may have just stretched the existing one, but seems they all look like that, even a new one.

Hi, I made a screenshot on my iPad, notice how the white background looks pink on the left side compared to the right side where the text isn't red...

Ken, thanks. I'm not saying all the red is bad, maybe the topic red and another color for some of the other text?? I don't know but all the red on that page is hard to deal with.

Thanks again for all your help!!

The blue that shows up on my phone instead of the red is great.

Yes, it is a bit wider on the PC. Yes, my Avatar is fuzzy. :)

Why can't they make a PC version and a mobile version? Other apps seem to be able to do that.

  • Ken,

The font change is a welcome change. When you control+scroll now, it keeps the font much smaller and legible, instead of increasing it to the point of looking juvenile. Not an independent widescreen version but better. The red font turning the white pink is a brain related issue that plays mind games much as this chess board illusion does.

Square "A" and square "B" are actually the same color, but your mind doesn't see it that way due to the surrounding shadows cast on the board. If you are unsure, print it out and cut out the squares to compare side by side. I have won a lot of free drinks with this mind game puzzle...

Again, thanks for your efforts to make this place better, it is appreciated.

Math, Science, vintage audio, hip slang, and a touch of Latin (I had a friend who did the Latin thing as well, he shredded the Verbal on the SATs with a near perfect score in the days when almost "no one" got a perfect score))? It's just a mhardy cocktail! But I don't drink this early? lol

As far as I'm concerned it's cool as long as you don't whiz on my carpet because it really ties the room together!

Obviously lots of LAYERS to this Vanilla/Polk relationship/project. Perhaps TOO MANY?

Ever read Kafka's The Great Wall of China? Food for thought there! But really, isn't that just classic cnh, what an A-S-S he is!

See what I did there? I pulled a Rousseau. Or in more modern terms, I went for Camus's The Fall! I do believe intellectual "smoothies" make people's heads much too FAT! And we all know what happens to a head that's too FAT for it's neck!

  • The blue text and darker background is much better. Thanks for the subject title addition in PMs.

There seems to be an issue with the way the website sets cookies. In Internet Explorer and Chrome, if I sign in and go to my activity page (wall), it shows me as signed out with a last activity date from yesterday. However, If I go back to the forum main page or to a thread or to PMs, it shows me as signed in. I don't see this issue with Firefox.

Also, we need to have the option to delete messages from our Activity Wall and/or make things written there private. For example, someone left a note on my Wall which included their phone number. They probably left their number assuming that only I could read what was there.

I love the way Recent Discussions works now. That alone has caused me to increase my time here recently. I also like being able to easily see archived pm's. My wishlist:

    - Tab icon/favicon (I think this is what gce is talking about?). I usually have a stupid number of tabs open and have trouble finding the Polk tab (other than looking through the blank ones).

    - I miss the user's location - it was the primary associative thing I used to know/remember users better since I've not met many in person and, even though my broad characterization of those from particular regions might be way off, it was a place to start. And I find I do that in real person-to-person interaction anyway. Guessing that field's permanently gone.

    - Greyscale font/icons and right-hand margin the like/agree line to visually separate posts while decreasing attention to those items.

    - Can't sign into Polk account to register products, for example. Do I need to create a new acct and re-enter everything?

    Craig
