SVS Subwoofer question

Options
Hey all losing sleep over this one the wife gave me the ok to put up only she said Only a 3.1 system upstairs since we moved the main HT rig downstairs. I looked at HSU, Velodyne, and SVS, for some apparent reason I keep going back to this one or its little sibling the SB 1000. Does anyone own this particular model or any other SVS and could give me an opinion?

I don't own one of those models but I do own a SVS. My suggestion would be to call them. Give them your room size, listening habits, equipment, etc and they'll recommend the right sub for you. Their CS is top notch and they won't try to upsell you.

Thanks guys will do but do you think they would be a better choice than HSU, or Velodyne.? Since I can't demo any of these.

Can't go wrong with any of them IMO. SVS offers a 45 day trial with free shipping both ways. Hard to go wrong with that...

You can save a few bucks on their outlet specials...

And don't let the "outlet" name scare you Steve. They have the same warranty, are fully factory testing and inspected (cosmetic flaws are the only ones that end up in the outlet) and included the 45 day/free shipping both ways trial.

Don't sell HSU short, they too have great customer service and products. Give them a call while you are at it.

I currently own a PB13 but have owned HSUs as well. In my former very large room the PB13 did the trick, I wanted 1 sub and I needed 2 of the HSUs in that room.

My current house the PB13 is loafing and taking it easy and the HSU would be a better fit.

Most of the HSU's in that $600-$700 price range are down firing ones what's the performance difference between front firing and down firing?

I always wondered the same thing.
Front vs Rear firing- I had the Polk psw10 and have the Polk psw505. The psw10 front firing seemed easier to find a placement VS the rear psw505.
I never had a downfiring one. So I am curious as well.
    Cheers!
