I like "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic"... "Under the Bridge" would be a great tune in any genre'.

Spent a lot of quality time on the road with three BMDP "loaners"... Some thoughts on them...

Danny Gatton - "Live at Annapolis"
First track threw me as it was more Jazz than Blues, but rest was Blues... If you are into Guitar pryotechnics, check it out... Some amazing play, but...
Never quite grabbed me as being soulful... not even their rendition of the "Rocky and Bulwinkle Theme". :) Gonna give it another shot though...

    Millage Gilbert - "Three Faces"
The genuine article... very "blusey"... very engaging... very good listen... Only studio recording in the lot, but had a "live" feel to it...

Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets featuring Sam Meyers - "Live at the Grand Emporium"
My pick of the litter... Had me smilin' and singin' songs I did not even know the lyrics to... Will be first up on the home system tommorrow...errr... today....
    More later,
    Tour...

    Now THAT makes me smile!

Your ranking was exactly how I thought the loaners would shake out with you. I have my prediction hermetically sealed, in a mayonnaise jar, on the back porch of Funk & Wagnells.

Anson penned one of his most recent releases with you in mind, Bruce.

    Check it out

For some reason I'm in a blues mood...

Ran back through all the BMDP loaners.. pretty much the same reaction as yesterday, but found myself really liking Millage Gilbert - "Three Faces" more than I remembered...

Moved onto Little Charlie and the Night Cats' "Captured"...

    Then Clapton "Unplugged"... semi-blues anywho...

    Later...
    More later,

It has a couple of techno sounding songs like Debut but I find Vespertine to be more soothing and mellow. I can't say it has any real catchy tunes but it does have a couple of lyrically stunning love songs that sort of paint a picture of where she was in her life. (or at least that's what I think anyway). ;) I'd compare it to "Like Someone in Love" from Debut. I like it.

I'm just getting into Bjork and she's growing on me fast.

The Jazz Giants Play Frank Loesser - Davis, Rollins, Brubeck, Coltrane and others... well done...

    Moved onto:
Dave Gruisin - "Homage to Duke"... really like this one... makes me wish I'd opened it when I impulse bought it 2 or 3 years ago... (BB bargain bin, as I recall).

    Now up:
George Benson - "The ... Collection"... say no more...

    Amy Grant - Simple Things

Howard Jones - Cross That Line

"She didn't want....a cuddle in the back seat,

He wanted more than a 5 minute thrill" Track 2 "Everlasting Love"

    Very 80's

Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells A Story

It's been awhile for this one. Absolutely great!

For all of those that think Rod Stewart is just stuff like "Hot Legs", "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy", "Forever Young", "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You", etc.....

He could rock in the early days! He lost that edge in the mid 70s when he went for the disco/glam/punk/balladeer/whatever sound. NEVER put out anything very good after Never A Dull Momemt IMO. If you've never heard this one GO FIND IT AND GIVE IT A LISTEN! "Maggie May" and "Every Picture Tell A Story" are worth the price of the CD by themselves.
